Celtic captain Callum McGregor has made some interesting comments about the Hoops’ transfer activity in the close season.

The Celtic skipper is happy with the business that the Hoops have done so far, but he doesn’t want the Hoops to rest on their laurels, he wants Celtic to make more purchases.

“It’s a huge club and the boys are buzzing to be a part of it. The club have done their business early and hopefully we can add one or two more faces as well which would be great” he said, as reported by Football Scotland.

The big takeaway from those quotes is the part about adding more signings, which is something that surely Ange Postecoglou will agree with. The Hoops have made a good start to the transfer business so far, with the permanent signings of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota in particular.

But there are still signings that need to be made, especially in midfield, defence, and perhaps even up-front. Getting those signings in could take the Hoops to the next level, especially when it comes to playing in the Champions League.

At the moment the Celtic squad looks good enough to compete at the top of Scottish football, even if the departed Tom Rogic will be difficult to replace. He was a one of a kind player, and it will be hard to find a player that will be able to replicate his type of footballing ability.

The Hoops still have the squad that can win the title in season 2022/23, but more will need to be added if Celtic are going to compete in the Champions League group stages, and that is what McGregor will surely be thinking about when he talks about the Hoops adding more signings.

Celtic are on the verge of taking the squad to the next level, with the permanent signings of Carter-Vickers and Jota. But now it is time for the Hoops to try and take the next step, and that is what Callum McGregor will be hoping that Celtic go on to do when signing players over the next two months.

The Celtic captain has asked the club, albeit indirectly, to make a few more signings this summer. The Celtic board won’t want to upset the Hoops skipper by not adding the players that he has called for the club to sign.

Celtic need to keep the feel-good factor and momentum going by making more signings, and hopefully the club can do what McGregor has called for over the next few weeks.
