The draw for the fourth round of the Scottish Cup was made on Monday night (28th of November) and the Hoops were drawn to play Morton at Celtic Park, in a game which will be played on the weekend of the 21st of January.

Morton are in a decent run of form in the Championship – they are currently in second place, only one point behind leaders Ayr United – but the Hoops will be satisfied that the draw is favourable, especially when you look at some of the other ties in the fourth round.

The most eye-catching ties are probably the Edinburgh derby between Hibernian and Hearts at Easter Road, Rangers’ trip to St Johnstone where they lost earlier this season, and Aberdeen’s visit to non-league Darvel, which has all the ingredients of a classic Scottish Cup shock.

You have to think that Ange Postecoglou and his players will be pleased to have a home cup tie, and the Hoops will likely take the game very seriously, as the Bhoys will be eager to win back the Scottish Cup after relinquishing the trophy two seasons ago.

The Scottish Cup has been a great trophy for the Hoops in recent years, as the Bhoys won it four seasons in a row before not making the final in the last two seasons, something that the club will be determined, as the most successful Scottish Cup side in football history, to put right.

It will be interesting to see which games are shown live on television, the three games outlined above seem to be the most interesting, although you have to think that the Hoops might well be shown live as Celtic almost always are in the Scottish Cup.

It would be a good idea for Celtic to charge fans sensibly for the game too to ensure that there is a big crowd at the game, perhaps a maximum price of £20 for season ticket holders would be a good idea, as if the game is too expensive then you imagine that the attendance at the game won’t be that big.

Celtic are the best Scottish Cup side in Scotland, and the Hoops should be looking to prove that this season, starting with the game against Morton. It won’t be an easy fixture, but the draw could have been a lot more hazardous for the Bhoys.
