Celtic and Nancy – Football doctors, driveways and disaster

Now that the relief has subsided amongst Celtic fans, it has paved the way for a deeper anger than the sort that prevailed beforehand.

Wilfried Nancy was not qualified for the Celtic job.

That much is clear.

He is not the genesis of this disaster though.

In fact, despite the sizable pay off he has received, he’s the victim.

Another victim of the sheer negligence and complacency of this Celtic board.

No one could have envisaged such a mess, such a catalogue of farce.

The stewardship of the club appeared to have hit rock bottom in the summer but credit to them, they didn’t stop there.

They have continued to chisel away at the club’s standard of player.

Also the money they so preciously hoard and now, as if they haven’t taken enough from us, they are quickly dismantling Celtic’s reputation.

From Kairat to Rodgers’ resignation, from banning the Green Brigade to the AGM, at every turn, they have shown their complete disdain for anyone not wearing those grey suits.

Football news outlets, podcasts and talk shows, which have hardly ever paid attention to Scotland, now religiously carry a point and laugh feature on Celtic.

Paul Tisdale – Celtic’s football doctor

How Paul Tisdale rose to such prominence within the club is truly bewildering.

Bewildering, yet not particularly surprising.

I would love to have been a fly on the wall – or the golf bag – when Tisdale was introduced to Desmond.

This seems to have been the inception of this whole catastrophic season.

Desmond enamoured and charmed by the cravat wearing footballing mastermind.

All starry eyed and swooning, as they strolled the fairways together.

After the corporate flirtation was over, they eventually got down to business.

Tisdale after a brief period as a “Consultant” he was eventually appointed “Head of footballing operations.”

A vague job title which is loosely translated as director of football at most normal football clubs.

How he managed to blag this position is quite remarkable considering his CV.

How Desmond fell for it, is in keeping with his autocratic ego and steadfast belief in not listening to anyone, regardless of how qualified they are.

Tisdale getting in at a club of Celtic’s size is the footballing equivalent of a bogus gas man chapping doors and a gullible gran, emptying her purse.

Truly embarrassing.

Absolutely solid.

Celtic’s backing of the head coach remains unwavering. January and summer recruitment is underway.

Nicholson has a reputation for a lack of correspondence, whether with the mainstream media or with agents looking to finalise deals.

It’s easy to see why he chooses to only speak to our in-house media channels with their soft questioning.

Every time he opens his mouth – of just shrugs – he manages to get something wrong.

The man carries all the charisma and authority of a substitute Modern Studies teacher.

He is redundant in practice and that should be formalised with the next P45 to be issued.

Starting at Saturday at home to Dundee Utd, Martin O’Neill has the chance to pick up where he left off, just 5 weeks ago.

In the hope of presenting a small bit of positivity, what a tremendous story it would be if the Irishman were to to lift the trophy, at the end of the season.
