A club with Celtic’s wealth, support and potential should be competing for outstanding coaches. The board should present McKenna—or someone of comparable quality—with an ambitious project, significant backing and the authority to rebuild the squad.

Instead, supporters are again being confronted with the possibility of another appointment from the club’s past.

Celtic have already been eliminated from the Champions League and League Cup. They have lost consecutive matches against Rangers and suffered a damaging Europa League defeat. This is not the moment for another comfortable boardroom decision.

Appointing Lennon for a third time would invite accusations that Celtic have abandoned ambition for convenience.

This is not an attack on Lennon or his Celtic legacy. It is a demand that the club stop recycling yesterday’s solutions.

The board cannot continue making the easiest appointment available and expect Celtic to progress in Europe. It must spend money, demonstrate ambition and recruit a manager capable of building something new.

If Lennon’s 2/10 price reflects genuine movement behind the scenes, Celtic supporters have every right to be furious.
