BREAKING – Celtic Step Up Landon Emenalo Interest As Chelsea Left-Back Holds Talks Over Loan Move

Celtic appear to be moving quickly in their search for left-back cover, with Chelsea youngster Landon Emenalo reportedly travelling to Scotland for talks over a potential loan move.

Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph says the 18-year-old was in Scotland today to hold discussions with Celtic, while also getting the opportunity to view the club’s stadium and training facilities.

That represents a significant development from the initial reports that Emenalo was simply one of several loan options Celtic were assessing as potential cover for Kieran Tierney.

I was convinced it would be Greig Taylor on loan, if I am honest.

This is one position Celtic simply cannot afford to neglect.

Tierney remains the obvious first-choice left-back when available, but expecting him to carry the position throughout an entire season would be a completely unnecessary gamble. Celtic need genuine cover, particularly with huge European fixtures already approaching.

We need Tierney 100% fit for all the big games. He needed help.

It would also allow Celtic to strengthen the position without committing another substantial transfer fee after the more ambitious permanent business we’ve seen elsewhere this summer.

We don’t mind the odd signing of this nature, just not all of them.

The key question is whether Martin O’Neill believes Emenalo is ready.

Because after listening to the Celtic manager speak about recruitment recently, one message has become increasingly clear: he isn’t looking for bodies to fill spaces in his squad. He wants players he believes can actually contribute.

If Emenalo has travelled north for talks, Celtic’s interest looks very real.

Now we wait to see whether another piece of O’Neill’s squad rebuild is about to fall into place.
