The Celtic transfer deadline has suddenly become impossible to ignore.

As of Wednesday, August 26, Celtic have just seven calendar days until the UEFA deadline for registering the List A squad that will compete in the Europa League.

UEFA’s official 2026/27 regulations confirm that the list must be submitted by 23:59 CET on Wednesday, September 2.

Scotland’s summer transfer window then closes at 5pm on Thursday, September 3.

September 3 might be the Scottish deadline, but September 2 is the date Celtic supporters should really circle.

That is when the Europa League List A must be submitted.

A player arriving after that point cannot simply be added to Celtic’s Europa League league-phase squad.

UEFA allows clubs to register up to three new eligible players after the league phase and before the knockout stage, with that later deadline falling on February 4, 2027.

That is little consolation for Celtic right now.

The club need players for the Europa League league phase, not sometime next February.

This should have been one of the strongest Celtic squads in years.

Instead, another European disaster has occurred and supporters are once again watching the calendar while hoping the people running the club finally move.
