The fact that the Celtic board always plans to profit from failure shows us that our club has been hijacked by nothing more than a vulture capitalist

For a long time now, we’ve known that Dermot Desmond has not been running Celtic for the good of the club, but for his own selfish reasons.

I know when I use the terminology ‘running’, this should never be the case when it comes to a non-executive director.

Dermot Desmond should have absolutely nothing to do with the day to day running of our club.

Yet he does, and as we all know, he calls the shots at Celtic.

He has effectively hijacked our club, and treats it like his own personal plaything.

Not only is he intent on somehow sadistically making our club the laughing stock of Europe, he is also intent on increasing his iron grip on our club by installing his son as the next Celtic Chairman.

His regime is fast becoming the most hated in the club’s history, and for however long more it lasts, things will only continue to get worse at Celtic.

The track record thus far shows they are not going to get any better.

Last night, I wrote an article stating that the reality of the board’s behaviour is now starting to close in on them.

The amount of abuse this club, and it’s fans have been subjected to by this board, like anything, has an expiry date.

It cannot continue indefinitely, something has got to give.

The next two days will tell us what kind of squad we’re going to have until next January.

It will also tell us whether we’re capable of maintaining our position at the top of the table for the entirety of the season.

As I’ve stated several times lately, domestic bliss is the only thing between this board and all out anarchy at Celtic.

If our domination of the game in Scotland comes under threat again, which it very much did last season, this board will have no where to hide.

No where.

While domestic bliss keeps the happy clappers happy and clapping, take that away, and what have you got?

The happy clappers clap because because we’re winning domestically.

If that disappears, then they have no reason to clap happily.

No happy clappers, and the board have no remaining allies at Celtic Park.

I don’t need to discuss the dire position our footballing operation is in at the moment again.

We’re all acutely aware of that by now.

We are one injury crisis away from disaster, and if we’re being honest that crisis has already begun with the injuries to Alistair Johnston, Kieran Tierney, Kapser Høgh and Callum Osmand.

Martin O’Neill is already struggling to put a Celtic first eleven out that can cope with the rigours of our domestic campaign.

Meanwhile, the board is desperately scrambling to get deals over the line before tomorrow night’s deadline.

Apparently the deal for PSV Eindhoven’s 19 year old rookie midfielder, Joel van den Berg, is in the final stages of being wrapped up.

He fits the project category, and the £3.5 million price tag is in and around the magic number which pleases the absent meddling golfer all the time.

In addition to his signing, we are reported to have secured a year long deal for Danish midfielder, Oliver Sørensen, from Serie A side Parma.

This comes with an option to buy at the end of the loan.

We’re also being told that the Gvidas Gineitis deal isn’t quite dead in the water yet.

As for Michael Nicholson getting five to six names in the door before 11.00 pm tomorrow evening?

Can you really see that happening?

When you take into consideration we are a club that has ‘baked failure’ into our business model, we are certainly not going to change that approach and actually land the amount of players required to see us through the season ahead in the space of just over 24 hours.

Since the release of latest episode of the podcast ‘The Breakdown / The Business of Sport’, many Celtic fans have picked up on former Sunderland CEO Charlie Methvens’s comments on Celtic.

They are pretty damning, and I’d highly recommend watching this podcast on YouTube.

Methven tells us that Celtic have ‘Baked Failure’ into their business plan, which confirms that the board plans to fail each season.

Yes, we do not plan to succeed, we plan for failure.

And believe or not, we are the only club who operates this way.

However, it is starting to make us look like the laughing stock of European football.

The reality is, there is a limit to this kind of strategy, if you could call it that.

If this strategy causes us to fail domestically, then the board are in serious trouble.

Which begs the question, considering the state of our squad already, are you really confident that Michael Nicholson will land the five or six players our squad badly needs?

I know how I feel about that.

I’m sure you feel the same.

The old saying goes, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

With Celtic it’s a case of, if you plan to fail, then eventually you will.

Unless Michael NIcholson performs miracles before 11.00 pm tomorrow evening, that eventuality could be forthcoming.

It’s inevitable considering the state of our squad…
