A chant consisting of ‘F*** you Celtic, F*** you Celtic’ now apparently makes news headlines. Who knew?

The Daily Record has been busy lately bigging up Captain Disappointed’s move to Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Thankfully for James Tavernier in the twilight of his career, he’s found a place to fall in love with, and most importantly, a place where he won’t be ‘Disappointed’.

Apparently Tel-Aviv is a lovely place, and so too are the people.

What is an extra amazing bonus, is the fact that the Maccabi Tel-Aviv fans hate Celtic.

This, of course, must warm the cockles of Captain Disappointed’s heart, as Celtic subjected him to many a disappointing day throughout his ‘illustrious trophy laden’ career at Ibrox.

Now, I don’t really care what a team all the way out in Israel thinks of Celtic.

It doesn’t really matter to me, and I certainly wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.

In fact, the amount of thought and effort that went into such a punchy and well thought out chant pretty much sums up what we’re dealing with here.

‘F*** you Celtic, F*** you Celtic’ is indeed ingenious, isn’t it?

So ingenious that it makes the news headlines in the SMSM.

Yes, this is the standard that is considered newsworthy in the year 2026 in the Daily Record.

Now, it’s quite clear that the ‘foul mouthed chant’ that Captain Disappointed was served up by Maccabi Tel-Aviv fans was the catalyst to opening a wonderful piece of journalism on the former Ibrox captain’s move to Israel.

Nothing draws the readership in better than Celtic being told to go F*** themselves by Maccabi Tel-Aviv, does it?

There’s a certain ring to it, isn’t there?

The Ibrox fans, though, might be a tad disappointed – if you’ll excuse the pun – that Captain Disappointed is pretty much saying that Maccabi Tel-Aviv fans are better than the best fans in the world.

I mean the Ibrox side has considered itself to be the best in the world at quite a few things, hasn’t it?

World’s most successful club, at one point (And of course ignoring the fact that Al-Ahly exists).

World’s greatest fans (bestowed upon them by themselves).

And of course, lest we forget, the best wee haters of Kafflicks in the world.

So, to a degree, they must be upset at the fact Captain Disappointed finds Maccabi Tel-Aviv soooo amazing.

Here’s a bit of what he had to say:

I’ve experienced many atmospheres in Europe and of course at Ibrox, but this was a special and amazing atmosphere. I just called my wife after the game and said the noise was just unbelievable Kenny Miller called me for the first time when I was on holiday with my family in America. He put it in such a way that this is a club that wants to win titles and how passionate the club and the fans are.

Ah, good ol’ Kenny ‘Turncoat’ Miller.

Lovely chap.

Just like Captain Disappointed.

Well, I’m sure they’re all very happy out in Tel-Aviv, like peas in a pod.

Especially when they’re being regaled with chants like ‘F*** you Celtic, F*** you Celtic’!
