Partick Thistle frustrated The Hoops for large parts of the game and disrupted their usually fluid football but couldn’t keep out Stuart Armstrong’s close range goal.

On 39 minutes Armstrong opened the scoring after getting on the end of Leigh Griffiths’ perfectly weighted pass across the six-yard box.

Armstrong added a second four minutes into the second half following a quick free-kick from Griffiths for his sixth goal of the season.

Just 60 seconds later the provider turned goal scorer as Cristian Gamboa did well to press the ball and get possession before Griffiths curled the ball expertly beyond the ‘keeper.

Celtic and Craig Gordon were prevented a clean sheet after Liam Lindsay guided the ball perfectly into the corner.

Substitute Callum McGregor added a fourth from Emilio Izaguirre’s cross with a cool half volley into the bottom corner.

Rodgers also confirmed before the game that James Forrest will miss several weeks of action with a hamstring injury.
