Michael Johnston signs new three-year deal

Celtic youth winger Michael Johnston has signed a new thee-year deal with the club.

The news was confirmed by the club and comes just hours after the academy graduate made his senior debut against St Johnstone in a 4-1 win for the Hoops.

It also follows reports that Chelsea were monitoring his situation as he neared the final 12-months of his contract with the Celtic Park side.

He has been part of the academy sicne he was nine, and will look to follow in the footsteps of Kieran Tierney, James Forrest and Callum McGregor and solidify a place in the first-team over the coming years having come through the youth ranks.

Johnston was part of the side that won 4-1 at Paradise today, in Celtic’s second last home game of the season.

The 18-year-old was involved in the build up to the opening goal of the game from Patrick Roberts, and made way on the 57th minute for Celtic Player of the Year Scott Sinclair.
