Ambrose to complete permanent transfer to Hibernian

After spending almost five years on the books at Celtic, Efe Ambrose will leave the club officially today and join Hibernian once the transfer window opens later this month according to the Daily Mail.

The Nigerian defender spent the second half of the season on loan with second-tier side Hibernian and returned to somewhere near his best form as he helped guide Hibs back into the top flight of the SPFL.

Once again working under Neil Lennon, the man who brought the centre-back to Parkhead in August 2012, Ambrose was always keen to continue playing for Lennon at Hibs as they look to make headway after a three-year wait to return to the top flight.

There was reported interest from newly-promoted Brighton as well as Nice in Ligue 1, but Hibs were always in the driving seat to keep the defender who wanted to stay close to his family in Scotland.

He’s done enough in his 12 appearances for Hibs to earn a permanent move in the eyes of Lennon, after making just once appearance for the Hoops under Brendan Rodgers in the opening game of the season last July.
