Fresh off the back of retaining their League Cup crown, Celtic face a trip to North Lanarkshire to face Motherwell in the Premiership on Wednesday night.
A 1-0 win over Aberdeen on Sunday gave the Hoops their seventh straight domestic trophy under Brendan Rodgers, as they look to target a historic treble treble this season.
Though it’s back to league duty now as Rodgers’ men will look to pick up where they left off, after convincingly defeating Hamilton Accies 3-0 in their last match in the Scottish Premiership.
It goes without saying they are flying high at the moment. More silverware followed on from an impressive win over Rosenborg in the Europa League which puts them in a promising position in terms of qualification.
Currently sitting ninth in the table, Motherwell will want to bounce back after suffering a 2-0 loss to Livingston on Saturday.
Stephen Robinson’s side took points off of Aberdeen the last time they played at Fir Park, but facing up to the champions will prove a big test.
Here is our predicted Celtic starting XI in a 4-2-3-1 for Wednesday night’s game.
GK - Craig Gordon
Will return to the side fresh after sitting out Sunday’s cup final win.
RB - Mikael Lustig
Captained the team for the majority of Sunday’s game and added more silverware to his collection. Likely to start once again.
CB - Filip Benkovic
His incredible performance in Sunday’s final had fans clamouring for the Celtic board to sign him on a permanent deal. Has to start in what will be a tough away fixture.
CB - Jozo Simunovic
With Boyata out injured, it looks like Simunovic might come into play. He came on for the Belgian on Sunday to partner fellow countryman Benkovic in defence.
LB - Kieran Tierney
Another professional performance from the youngster means he’s now played 29 games already this season. He’ll be needing a rest given the packed December schedule, but he’ll likely start this one.
CM - Scott Brown
Came on with just under half an hour to go on Sunday. His inclusion means he’s now match fit and could start his first game since 20th October.
CM - Callum McGregor
Brown’s return doesn’t mean McGregor will be absent on Wednesday. He’s done a superb job in the holding midfield role throughout Brown’s injury, but everyone knows the versatile midfielder is capable of playing a more advanced role too. Deserves to retain his starting role.
RW - James Forrest
Has become a formidable part of the team, particularly this season. More than likely to start on Wednesday night, and might even pop-up with a goal or two.
CAM - Ryan Christie
He’s become quite the Hoops hero recently, hasn’t he? Not many could have predicted his rise to stardom. His goal in Sunday’s final proved to be the difference between the sides. Christie’s recent performances have blown people away; and long may it continue.
LW - Scott Sinclair
Sinclair has not done a whole lot domestically recently to warrant a starting place in the team, but Rodgers seems to favour him out on the left.
ST - Odsonne Edouard
Didn’t have his best game in green and white at the weekend, but his ability to drop back and contribute to the overall game proved he’s still there and looking to threaten. Whether Rodgers decides to go with Griffiths remains to be seen, but the Frenchman is capable of finding the net.
