Lennon unhappy with Ntcham’s ‘untimely’ comments
Neil Lennon admits he is disappointed with Olivier Ntcham, following comments regarding his future.
The Celtic midfielder has been an excellent signing since arriving from Manchester City in 2017, scoring 14 goals in 84 appearances.
In a recent interview, however, he spoke of his unhappiness at not joining Porto last season.
Ntcham also said he was flattered to be linked with a move to Marseille this summer, with his future at Parkhead up in the air.
Someone who has been left unimpressed is Lennon, who criticised the 23-year-old’s remarks and said his future would be discussed this summer:
You can imagine, we find the comments untimely and not particularly accurate,” manager Lennon said.
I think it is fair to say that a lot of us, would it be management, players or people at the club, were not satisfied with the comments.
That (his future) will be addressed when Olivier comes back.
When I speak to Olivier, it will be done privately, but I will be speaking to him about his mindset and his attitude towards the club as well, which, the way it came across, didn’t look good.
Ntcham has not travelled to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the rest of the Celtic squad, ahead of their Champions League first qualifying round first leg against Sarajevo on Tuesday.
Should Celtic sell Olivier Ntcham this summer?
Yes
No
That’s due to his recent commitments in the European Under-21 Championship, where he reached the semi-finals with France.
Whether or not he stays at Celtic remains to be seen, but all will become clearer upon his return.
