Celtic target Victor Wanyama reportedly trying to cancel Spurs contract

Former Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama is reportedly trying to terminate his contract at Tottenham Hotspur after failing to secure a move away from the club in January, according to reports from France Football.

French journalist Nabil Djellit claims that Wanyama and Spurs are currently exploring a deal that could see the midfielder depart on a free transfer, which could potentially open the door to a Celtic return.

However, French side Amiens were reportedly close on a deal to bring the midfielder to the French top flight, with The Mail reporting that the Kenyan was close on a move, but that the deal fell through before the window shut.

Bringing Wanyama back would seemingly be a popular move among Celtic fans, with many revealing on Twitter that they would love to have him back.

The midfielder has found game-time limited at Spurs, with Wanyama only playing 122 minutes of first-team football this season, as per Transfermarkt.

With Amiens seemingly very interested in a deal they would seemingly be in the race to sign him.

However, if Wanyama was to sign for Celtic, he would be unable to play for the club until next season,  as per the FIFA rules.

Therefore, it would be more likely to see this deal happen over the summer, rather than in the near future.
