Celtic transfer target Alexandro Bernabei had an interesting night in what could be his last game for Lanus.

The left-back was sent-off in the 69th minute for a headbutt in his team’s 1-0 win over Colon.

What will be intriguing is if the player will have to serve a ban for his red card if he does join the Hoops. The player still has to join Celtic first, and you have to imagine that his red card will not affect the Hoops’ interest in the 21-year-old.

These things happen in football, and the Hoops have players in the squad that have been sent-off in the past. Ange Postecoglou won’t lost interest in Bernabei just because of one red card.

The full-back area at Celtic is going to be one to watch next season, as the right-back battle will see Josip Juranovic and Anthony Ralston vying for a place in the first-team, and at left-back it could be between Bernabei and Greg Taylor.

With the amount of games that Celtic will be playing in season 2022/23, it does make sense that the Hoops are looking for a left-back that can challenge Taylor, and it seems that Bernabei is a player that the Hoops are keen to sign.

Celtic have been fortunate that most of the signings that have been made by Ange Postecoglou have taken to life at the club right away, they have not needed time to settle into Glasgow and get used to the frantic nature of Scottish football.

It will be hoped that if Bernabei joins the Hoops then he will be in the same category, and that is something that the club might well take into account when looking at prospective new signings.

Celtic don’t need to buy as many players this summer as the club did last summer, but the Hoops do seem to be eager to bring a new left-back to Celtic Park before the season kicks off at the end of July.

By all accounts, Bernabei is the player that Celtic have identified, and the Hoops will be looking to get a deal done soon to give the player plenty of time to be signed before the season starts.

The sooner he signs, the sooner the player can start to get to grips with the always exciting world of Scottish football, and there is no chance that one red card will end Celtic’s interest in a player that the club have been linked with for a number of weeks.
