If Ally McCoist thinks Greg Taylor would move to Ibrox from Celtic, you can rest assured he WON’T be going there

Last night, on the Trinity Tims podcast, we talked about the farcical coverage in the media of late with regard to Greg Taylor moving to Ibrox.

I haven’t really written anything as it’s been well covered by James over on the Celtic Blog.

However, I couldn’t resist today when I saw the latest piece of garbage in the Record on it.

If I’m honest, I didn’t think after last night this would get any more coveage.

But the media are running with this, and the story is starting to grow legs.

At this point in time, there’s about as much chance of this happening as there is of the Fakeover going through.

The SMSM continues to desperately cling to that story, despite it becoming more and more evident it isn’t going to happen.

We also discussed that in depth on the podcast last night.

But the Greg Taylor story is one that just will not go away.

It traversed from laughable into farcical today, though, because Ally McCoist has waded in on it.

And when Ally McCoist wades into anything, you just know it cannot be taken seriously.

McCoist did get one thing right though, he said that Greg Taylor is good enough to play in the current Ibrox team.

Well, yes, that’s blatantly obvious, because he is definitely a level above the current left backs at Ibrox.

He would put Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz to shame.

It’s a sad indictment of the current state of the Ibrox side when a player we won’t even offer a new contract to could walk into their team.

Don’t get me wrong, Greg Taylor has been a great servant to Celtic.

He has always fought hard to prove himself at the club.

And he kept every single challenger that came his way for his position at bay for close to 5 years.

Greg Taylor is smart enough to know that when Kieran Tierney returns, his first team chances would be few and far between.

Especially if the club holds on to Jeffrey Schlupp.

Taylor would have to rely on injuries to both players to give him any game time.

And at 27 years of age, I’m sure that’s not something he wants to do, knowing he has at least another 5 good years of playing time.

But a move to Ibrox?

Regardless of all the looney tunes opinions on him in the media, that’s simply not a headache Taylor needs.

McCoist thinks it wouldn’t be a big deal.

Maybe try telling that to Greg Taylor to see what kind of response he’d give?

Celtic fans would give him grief where ever he went, Ibrox fans would probably give he grief anyway because he played for us, and God help him if he made a mistake in a game.

So yes, it would be a very big deal.

For Greg Taylor.

I have no doubt that Taylor will be looking for a move that firstly, guarantees him first team football.

And secondly does not apply the amount of grief a move to Ibrox would.

In fact, I don’t even know why people are talking about this at all.

It’s pure speculation, nothing else.

Either way, McCoist wading in on this has put the kiss of death on it.

Nobody can take him seriously.

If this thing had any legs before today, it’s dead in the water now.

Not that it ever had any legs to begin with.

It’s just the SMSM pushing for clicks.

This will all die away soon, just like the Fakeover will
