Celtic appear to be making progress in their pursuit of Kasper Høgh and Mika Baur as Martin O’Neill looks to strengthen his squad before the new season begins.
The two potential arrivals would address very different areas of the team. However, both deals would represent the type of ambitious recruitment Celtic supporters have demanded throughout the summer.
CELTIC REVIVE KASPER HØGH INTEREST
Celtic have reportedly renewed their interest in Bodø/Glimt striker Kasper Høgh after failing to secure him during the January transfer window.
The Norwegian champions had little interest in selling during their Champions League campaign. However, fresh reports suggest Høgh has now held positive discussions with his club about a possible departure.
Bodø/Glimt remain in a strong negotiating position because the 25-year-old has a contract until 2029. As a result, Celtic may need to pay more than the previously reported £7 million valuation.
Høgh has proven that he can score goals at domestic and European level. Therefore, signing him would send a clear message about Celtic’s ambitions.
MIKA BAUR TALKS CONTINUE
Celtic are also working on a deal for Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur.
The 22-year-old has reportedly agreed personal terms and appears open to moving to Glasgow. Nevertheless, Celtic must still agree a fee with his club.
Paderborn manager Ralf Kettemann confirmed that interest exists but insisted the German club controls the situation. Baur has entered the final year of his contract, although Paderborn will not allow him to leave cheaply.
CELTIC MUST FINISH BOTH DEALS
Høgh would provide power, movement and a reliable goal threat. Meanwhile, Baur would add youth, energy and creativity to Celtic’s midfield.
Interest alone will not satisfy supporters. Celtic have spent too many transfer windows watching promising deals drift away.
The board must now act decisively. Completing both transfers would strengthen O’Neill’s squad and finally provide evidence that Celtic intend to match their financial strength with genuine ambition.
Not a chance in hell are we signing Hogh these bastards have no ambition whatsoever Hogh and Baur would be excellent signings we will sign Huggy bear instead
Huggy bear. Brilliant
Maybe we could get Starsky and Hutch to arrest the board for fraudulent misrepresentation of being useful
