Perhaps more importantly, there finally feels like there’s genuine competition for places.

That’s something Celtic have occasionally lacked in recent seasons.

The bigger test, though, will come in Europe.

That’s where Høgh’s experience could prove invaluable.

Goals against Atlético Madrid, Inter Milan and Manchester City suggest he won’t be overawed by Champions League nights at Celtic Park.

Durán’s pressing and athleticism also look perfectly suited to the higher intensity European football demands.

Now, it may become one of the squad’s biggest strengths.

Replacing players Maeda is never straightforward.

If Høgh continues his European goalscoring form, Durán develops as quickly as many expect, and Osmand is allowed to grow without unnecessary pressure, Celtic could have assembled one of their strongest attacking units in years.
