Celtic Secure Danish International As O’Neill’s Second Capture

Given all the distractions at play for Celtic during the 2025/26 Scottish Premiership campaign, legendary manager Martin O’Neill again returning just in time to see us over the line late on for a league and Scottish Cup double was music to the ears of fans, and a much needed sense of relief after the year that the Parkhead faithful had experienced.

Whilst progress this summer transfer window and off season has been slow, the 74 year old’s plans are slowly starting to come together. His contract is in place, as are those of his backroom team. Although some departures have been forced when the Northern Irishman had made it pretty clear that he was very happy for them to remain for the season that lies ahead, we are now slowly beginning to see fresh faces arrive – Camilo Duran for a reported £5.5 million joined much earlier this month, and we now have confirmation that fellow target Kasper Hogh is now through the Celtic Park doors.

The 25 year old, four capped Denmark international striker, officially completed his transfer from Norwegian league side Bodo/Glimt over the weekend, and much like experiencing Casino Richard for the first time when looking at online gaming options, it is fair to say that his name will be new for many fans, and he arrives as somewhat of an unknown – particularly for those who do not follow the other European leagues closely.

The player himself has stated that he feels that Celtic are a ‘really good match’ for him given his own strengths and playing style, and with one international goal to his name already, he comes into Celtic for a reported £11 million having scored 54 goals (chipping in with an additional 22 assists) in 103 games across all competitions for his former club.

With the new fangled media invention of goal involvements, 76 in 103 is enough to get anyone’s attention in the modern game.

Five of those goals came in last season’s Champions League campaign – there will be those who remember his very unexpected brace against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side in freezing Norwegian conditions, and he also scored against La Liga’s Atletico Madrid – and he is already well up to speed this season as the Tippeligaen is already 12 games old, where he has scored seven times already.

Our second signing of the summer becomes the clubs record ever signing, and he has put pen to paper on a four year deal. O’Neill will welcome the option he should bring given his goals to game ratio, as well as the tempering of continued fan pressure (albeit to the board, and not the gaffer) which has again spiked somewhat following the sale of Japanese international attacker Daizen Maeda to newly promoted English Premier League side Ipswich Town for a claimed £10 million.

With title winning experience, and top scorer recognition – joint in the Europa League as they made their way to the semi finals – he should have no trouble at all adjusting to the expectations and demands placed on players at Celtic and it sounds like he is relishing the chance to take his career to the next level and prove he can dominate a frontline in a thoroughly different league.

We will have to see how long he takes to settle and adjust, but we could well have a gem here.
