McInnes plots the ultimate revenge against Celtic. Peak staunchness, new captain, and new players, same old R*****s…

There are a few people at Ibrox now who hold major grudges against Celtic.

Derek McInnes felt it would be the perfect ploy to combine all of their hurt and their pain from last season’s title loss at Hearts, and use it from his new power base, which is the Ibrox side.

It was inevitable that Shankland was going to get the captaincy, wasn’t it?

Waltz into Ibrox on a free transfer, spout on about how much R*****s were your boyhood side, and how Del boy is the perfect fit for a club like this, and the captaincy is all yours.

I wonder how the long term players at Ibrox felt about the newbie getting the captaincy?

A guy who can’t even stay in shape, and who’s arse will still be in the Ibrox tunnel when he’s out on the centre circle.

I suppose McInnes doesn’t consider him a newbie having had him as his captain at Hearts last season.

Shankland and Cammie Devlin’s painful experience at Celtic Park will be designed to drive them and Del boy onto the ultimate victory at Ibrox.

Mix in levels of staunch not witnessed for many years at Ibrox and you know it, the Raynjurz are cummin!

Oh, and lest we forget, Broxi Bear is the new hero at Ibrox after being sanctioned for abusing Celtic fans at the Scottish Cup quarter-final.

Finally, we have Del boy’s platform brogues, worn with pride!

All in all, these combining factors are setting the Ibrox side up for the ultimate victory in the name of all things holy and staunch.

A revenge that will be sweet beyond words.

But as I said in an article yesterday, 2 or all points dropped at Tannadice tomorrow night, and the bubble will burst.

We get this hype at the start of every season.

Every season.

In fact the hype was off the charts before Celtic went out and dropped almost as much as the Ibrox side had spent in the entire summer window on one player.

Kasper Høgh has really put the frighteners on them.

They didn’t expect us to make a signing like that, and now that we have, they are fully convinced we’re going to get serious in the transfer market before the window shuts.

In reality, Kasper Høgh was a game changer, and his signing also changed perceptions of our club completely.

Celtic went from being a laughing stock, to suddenly making people sit up and take notice.

The problem with creating a perception like that is that you must maintain it.

Celtic have a chance to do that now.

They need to continue this momentum, not allow it to become a flash in the pan.

It proves how the supremacist veneer over at Ibrox can be torn away very quickly.

Despite everything that has gone over there this summer, they are still the same old R*****s.

The reality that their manager has only ever landed one major trophy in his entire career cannot be glossed over by donning a pair of platform brown brogues, and a club blazer.

It can’t be glossed over by making Lawrence Shankland club captain either.

McInnes and Shankland never had a better chance than they had to win the Scottish Premiership last season.

Celtic were there for the taking.

The title wasn’t lost on the last day of the season.

Or by a penalty awarded at Fir Park.

It was lost due to Hearts winning one out of nine away games in the title run in.

McInnes might have better resources at Ibrox, there’s no disputing that.

But that does not change the fact that his tactical nous has still only managed to land him one major trophy in almost twenty years of football management.

McInnes has a 46.5% win ratio in his entire management career.

To be considered an elite level manager, you generally need to be above 60%.

McInnes’ win ratio is considered ‘respectable’.

He is coming up against a manager with the highest win ratio in Celtic’s history at 75.5%.

To be able to compete with that is a tall order.

McInnes might believe he’ll be able to with all of the resources he has at Ibrox.

But Celtic can dwarf that by going out and buying players like Kasper Høgh.

We’ve always had that capability, and when we do it, that scares them.

Up until we landed Kasper Høgh, they were laughing at us, and taking the piss out of Martin O’Neill’s age, then suddenly – BOOM!

Follow Follow was full of worried bears.

That’s how fragile they are over there.

And the biggest thing that frustrates us as Celtic fans is that we can swat them aside whenever we want.

It’s our board’s reluctance to do so that drives everybody mad.

But we did it in the last few days.

And it’s likely we’ll do it again throughout the remainder of this window.

Despite all the bravado and bleating over there, they’re still the same old R*****s.

Just because they have a staunch as f*** manager doesn’t change that fact.

McInnes is a serial loser.

He’s being pitted against a serial winner.

The man with highest win ratio in Celtic’s history.

Septuagenarian or not.

This is the cold, hard reality here.

And a manager with a 45.5% win rate is going to struggle to challenge that.

That’s the simple truth of the matter.

That’s the reality.
