£50 Million Pounds Spent and Nowhere to Go – Derek McInnes’ Will Be Sacked Shortly

There are bad transfer windows.

There are disastrous transfer windows.

And then there is whatever has happened at Castle Greyskull this summer.

The funny thing is that they have actually spent a lot of money, much more than us, yet they have somehow come WORSE off.

Where that money has come from is another question.

Around £50 million has gone into their squad this summer.

And I genuinely believe September 13th could be Derek McInnes’ final game in charge.

Fifty million pounds for this?

Let’s be honest.

If you told the Adams family before the window started that they would spend over £50 million, they probably would have expected a serious title challenge.

Instead, they have been dumped out of Europe completely.

Being knocked out of the Europa League by Jagiellonia Białystok before then suffering the humiliation of losing to Jablonec on penalties in the Conference League play-off.

For a club that has spent this much money, that is absolutely catastrophic.

The league campaign hasn’t exactly rescued them either.

Dundee United 1-1.

2-1 loss to Hibs.

A 1-0 victory against Aberdeen, which was their first league win of the campaign… funny old thing through a penalty…

And a desperately lucky win against a Falkirk side with some atrocious goalkeeping by Scott Bain.

And while the wins will undoubtedly be presented as the beginning of the “great recovery”.

The performances have been comically poor, especially the defending.

Their confidence looks fragile.

Raskin, their golden child, was desperate to leave but never got his wish.

Their captain looks like an overweight part-timer.

Which brings us back to that £50 million.

Because if you’re spending that amount of money, what exactly is the plan?

September 13th

Which brings me to the prediction.

I think September 13 could be Derek McInnes’ last game as their lots manager.

We are coming to Castle Greyskull.

It is a huge game… for them

A defeat would mean they are out of another competition before September is even finished.

And more importantly, it would give their lots board a very obvious moment to make a change.

The pressure is already there.

The European disaster has happened.

The league start has been poor.

The performances have been criticised.

The manager has admitted his team are miles short.

That is not exactly the fixture you want when your job is already beginning to look vulnerable.

There is also the small matter of the league meeting at Parkhead just seven days later.

Lose both?

At that point, surely the conversation becomes impossible to ignore.

They’ve sacked people for less. They just don’t want to admit they got it wrong again, but that is our gain because the longer they have McInnes in charge, the bigger gap we can create in the league.

The funniest part is that they thought spending would solve everything.

This is where as supporters we should be enjoying ourselves.

Because there has been plenty of criticism of our transfer window.

Some of it is justified.

But we have added quality and have had a perfect domestic start, as well as remain in European football.

That is the difference.

Money doesn’t automatically create a team.

Recruitment doesn’t automatically create chemistry.

And signing 13 players doesn’t automatically make you better.

Sometimes it just creates a very expensive mess.

And right now, that is exactly what they look like.

A mess.

And frankly, I couldn’t be happier watching them try to solve it.
