Ryan Naderi says it felt “amazing” to silence Celtic Park. Fair enough: he scored the only goal in a derby win, and Rangers took the points. But one victory is not a title, and a premature victory lap can look foolish when the season is over.
Naderi should keep the bragging to himself until he has actually helped Rangers win something that matters. A goal in September does not settle the championship. It does not erase the gap between Celtic’s record and Rangers’ record across the last 15 seasons. And it certainly does not give him the last word.
One goal is not a season
Naderi’s comments make a lot of noise about one afternoon. That is the problem. Rangers won the match; they did not win the league. Celtic supporters know exactly how painful that defeat was. They do not need a Rangers striker spelling out what the silence felt like.
The boast may sound clever while Rangers are enjoying a derby result. But football has a long memory, and the league table is a much harder thing to talk over. If Naderi wants to celebrate a goal, that is his choice. Acting as if one win proves something bigger is another matter entirely.
The record Rangers cannot talk away
Celtic have won 14 of the last 15 league titles. The run covers nine consecutive championships from 2011/12 to 2019/20, then five more from 2021/22 to 2025/26. Rangers won the title in 2020/21.
That is the context missing from Naderi’s swagger. Rangers can celebrate a derby victory, but one result does not put them level with Celtic’s record over this period. Their supporters have heard enough talk about what might happen. The trophy count is what matters.
I am not claiming the season is already decided. It is not. That is precisely why Naderi’s gloating is premature. There are months of football left, and the final table will judge both clubs far more clearly than a post-match soundbite.
Let the table answer him
Celtic have to respond where it counts: on the pitch, in the league, and in the meetings still to come. Naderi has had his moment. Now he should wait and see whether Rangers can turn a derby win into a season worth bragging about.
Until then, the bold talk is just noise. A single goal can silence a stadium for a day. Only a title can silence the argument for a year.
As exclusively told to the God awful Scottish Sun’s finest combover guy Roger Hannah . Hannah and a photographer went to Ibroxland for his Naderi interview no doubt given Carte Blanche to do as he wanted with the answers to his questions and words ? Why would the Sun rag want to talk to a player of a clumpany which finished third in the league last season ahead of anyone else ? Just like wee Scotty of the dwindling sales daily Record flying out to Austria to interview theRangers ex coacher guy -Herr Rohl – on abject failure in his time in Govanlandia I suppose . All embellished to suit everyone and every strategy of the failing haemorr….sorry…. tabloids no doubt ?
