Celtic put seven past Hearts on Sunday, but somehow Ewen Cameron managed to produce an even more embarrassing performance than the visitors’ defence.
And that really takes some doing.
The Hearts-supporting broadcaster became the unfortunate star of a hilarious STV Radio Football Show wind-up, with Ronnie Charters turning Celtic’s 7-1 demolition into an exercise in public humiliation.
The remarkable thing? Ronnie barely had to try.
Seven Goals and One Spectacular Meltdown
Charters arrived armed with seven gifts to commemorate Hearts’ catastrophic afternoon at Celtic Park.
“I got you SEVEN gifts to lift your spirits!”
It was magnificent. Simple, devastating and beautifully delivered.
And Cameron’s response?
“I’m gonna F**KING SMASH YOU!”
What an extraordinary reaction to a football joke.
Here’s a man who makes a living expressing opinions about football, yet apparently struggles to cope when someone returns the favour with a bit of harmless mockery.
Seven goals conceded, seven presents delivered, and one pundit seemingly incapable of laughing at himself.
Cameron’s Celtic Blind Spot Is Beyond Parody
Of course, the real comedy is Cameron’s apparent determination to minimise Celtic’s achievement.
Apparently, when Celtic score seven, the discussion must revolve around how dreadful Hearts were.
Heaven forbid we acknowledge that Celtic were outstanding.
Martin O’Neill’s side tore Hearts apart with pace, movement and ruthless finishing.
But recognising that would require Cameron to give Celtic credit.
And judging by his reaction, that might be an even more painful experience than watching Hearts concede seven.
It’s the sort of analysis that makes you wonder whether Cameron watches football with both eyes open or simply keeps one permanently fixed on his maroon-tinted spectacles.
Ronnie Didn’t Just Win – Cameron Handed Him the Victory
The funniest thing about this entire episode is that Charters didn’t need to outsmart Cameron with some sophisticated argument.
He simply reminded him of the score.
Seven.
That’s it.
And Cameron provided the entertainment himself.
For someone who enjoys dishing out provocative opinions, his apparent inability to absorb a little teasing is spectacularly ironic.
Celtic supporters will be laughing about this for weeks.
Hearts were humiliated on the pitch, and Cameron became the punchline afterwards.
Ronnie Charters deserves enormous credit for a perfectly executed wind-up.
As for Cameron?
Perhaps his next seven presents should include a sense of humour.
