Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Celtic’s plans to hold contract talks with ‘one or two’ players over the coming months.
Speaking about the future of his players, as reported by the Daily Record, Rodgers followed up comments made by defender Mikael Lustig, who recently confirmed his desire to sign a new deal at the club before returning to his native Sweden.
Mika’s been a great servant. Probably over the course of this winter, which is a busy period, we can sort it out.
There’s maybe something we can look at with that. There are one or two players contract-wise who we need to sort out as a club.
At this moment Mika’s playing really well. I’ve loved working with him. When I came into here there was a question mark over the number of games he could play. But his availability to train and for games has been exceptional.

With Lustig one of the two players in question, Rodgers did not name who the second Celtic star could be.
However, there are a number of candidates. Dedryck Boyata’s future at the club remains up in the air as he approaches the latter stages of his contract with the club.
After his actions over the summer, it is still unclear if he would sign a new deal with the Hoops.
Meanwhile, Rodgers has recently talked up plans to extend Scott Brown’s stay at the club. Cristian Gamboa, Scott Allan and Emilio Izaguirre are also coming to the end of their deals.
