Celtic are reportedly interested in a deal to sign Fortuna Sittard midfielder Mark Diemers.

According to reports coming from Voetbal International, as cited on Football Oranje, the Hoops are among the teams interested in signing the midfielder.

They will face competition from Germany, with the likes of Mainz, Hamburg, Freiburg all credited with an interest in the player.

Belgian outfit Genk are also said to be in the running to sign the player who is under contract until 2021 with Sittard.

The report claims that the Hoops have been ‘compiling information’ on Diemers, who scored seven league goals this season.

Add to that his seven assists from midfield, Diemers makes for an attractive prospect for the Scottish champions.

Diemers was among Sittard’s best players in the Dutch league this season as they battled bravely against relegation to the second tier.

He started his senior career coming through at Utrecht but has also spent time on loan at various Dutch clubs.
