Celtic have reportedly made a first approach for Rennes midfielder James Lea Siliki, according to French outlet RMC Sport, cited by GFFN.
The report states that the Hoops have made an enquiry for the in-demand midfielder, with the 23-year-old viewed as a potential replacement for fellow Frenchman Olivier Ntcham.
Portuguese giants FC Porto recently had an €8 million offer turned down for Siliki, so the Hoops may well have to break their transfer record to bring the player to Celtic Park.
Siliki, who came through the youth system with Paris Saint-Germain, has made over 70 appearances for his current side after breaking through back in 2017.
Celtic have already brought in Christopher Jullien from Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse and could well launch a formal offer for Siliki in the coming weeks.
Boss Neil Lennon has recently vented his frustrations with current midfielder Ntcham, and the Hoops could look to use the funds they likely receive for Ntcham to sign Siliki.
