Celtic yet to make contact over Antonio Barragan deal

Celtic have not yet made contact over a potential deal to sign Spanish defender Antonio Barragan.

According to reports in Spain from Estadio Deportivo, as cited on Inside Futbol, the player’s agents have not yet heard from Celtic.

Reports earlier in the week claimed that the Hoops could sign the former Liverpool man, with Neil Lennon still looking to strengthen his backline before the start of the new season.

Unfortunately for Celtic, the report adds that the player is currently happy in Spain and does not see himself leaving the club this summer.

The player is out of contract at the end of next season, so the La Liga side could be tempted into a sale, should an offer come forward.

However, it is also being suggested that he could in fact extend his deal with Betis in order to stay at the club.

Lennon has made it clear he wants to sign another right-back, with the Hoops also being linked with Swiss international Silvan Widmer.
