Celtic are ready to wave their 30% sell-on fee in order to complete a deal to sign Aaron Hickey from Hearts, according to a report from Kieran Devlin of The Athletic.
The 17-year-old star is seemingly on Celtic’s radar as Neil Lennon looks to make improvements to his squad this summer.
The full-back left Celtic to join Hearts in 2018 and the Hoops included a clause in that deal that would see them get 30% of any fee that the Jambos would earn from a future sale.
Hearts are in desperate need of a cash injection this summer, with it looking like they’ll be relegated to the Championship and as such, it looks like they will cash in on the teenager to help balance the books.
Due to the sell-on clause, there had apparently been concerns that Hearts would look to sell Hickey to another club in order to get 100% of their fee.
However, Celtic are keen to sign the defender and as such, they’re happy to wave that clause so they are able to complete a deal for the boyhood Celtic fan.

If Celtic believe that Hickey is a star of the future, then it makes perfect sense to waist their sell-on clause as it will give them a much better chance of signing the star defender.
Whilst Hearts and Celtic aren’t exactly the friendliest of duos, the money will also help the Edinburgh side, which may be a positive for the long term future of football in Scotland.
