Celtic are reportedly planning a mass squad overhaul this summer, according to Football Insider.
The outlet claimed that up to five members currently on the books at Parkhead could seal permanent exits ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
The Hoops are hoping to recieve blockbuster fees for two sales, which are likely to be Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer. Nir Bitton, Olivier Ntcham and Tom Rogic are the other three who could leave for smaller fees, according to Football Insider.
However, we think Celtic should also add Ryan Christie to their rumoured fire-sale list over someone like Ajer.
The 25-year-old now has less than 18 months remaining on his Parkhead contract. A number of English Premier League sides were linked with the Scot during the January transfer window, but he remained in Glasgow.
Should those clubs reignite their interest in the summer, Celtic could be in line to receive a sizeable fee for Christie, who holds an £8.1m Transfermarkt valuation.
He was bluntly described as ‘the bad egg in the team’ by one Hoops fan following his comments after the defeat to Ross County this season, and we feel as if losing Christie over Ajer wouldn’t be as big of a blow.
David Turnbull has shone in recent months in an attacking midfield role, so we feel that the club already have the answer in regards to replacing Christie.
However, should they cash in on Ajer, that could leave Celtic with a real shortage of centre-back options for 2021/22, especially with Shane Duffy set to return to Brighton following his loan spell.
