Celtic fans mock Paul Lambert comments as he rules himself out of managerial race

Many Celtic fans have been breathing a sigh of relief after Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert placed himself out of the running to take over the reins at Celtic Park.

Lambert represented the Hoops as a player between 1997 and 2005, during which time the club stopped Rangers from winning 10 Premiership titles consecutively, a fate which has now all but been reversed.

However, he isn’t pulling up any trees in his current role at Ipswich, who sit 10th in English League One as many supporters have called for him to be given the chop.

After talking up the magnitude of the job recently, Lambert has ruled out the chances of him returning to Parkhead, telling Sky Sports [via @celticbible]:

I played for eight years, but I left the Glasgow scene a long time ago.

That’s not my life anymore. I don’t want to tarnish the good feelings I have with the Celtic fans. We won a hell of a lot, stopping Rangers win ten [league titles] in a row in 1998. That was an incredible achievement.

Maybe I’ll go back as a fan, that’s all I can say.
