Celtic put out a Tweet on Thursday celebrating the Hoops career of winger James Forrest, who recently signed a new contract at the club.

The Tweet disclosed that the player has won an incredible 20 trophies for the Hoops in the 10 plus years he has been at the club.

Even more impressive though, is that he has won a medal for every 16.8 games he has played for the Bhoys.

The Hoops also put an article on the club’s website about the attacker, which disclosed that the 30-year-old has no won medals for the club than the iconic Jimmy Johnstone, and only Bobby Lennox, Billy McNeill and Scott Brown have won more honours for the club.

The numbers of trophies won by James Forrest in his time at Celtic is quite incredible. The fact that he has now won more trophies than Jimmy Johnstone, who could well be considered as Celtic’s best ever player is testament to the consistency that Forrest has shown in the 13 years he has been at Celtic.

With that experience at the club, you can understand why Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou gave the player a new contract, as with the departure of Scott Brown in 2021, he is now by far the most experienced player at the club.

Forrest might not start every game for the Hoops next season, but that experience he can provide in the dressing room could well be invaluable, especially when it comes to introducing new signings to the club.

The fact that Forrest has won a medal every 16.8 games is also an incredible achievement, and it shows just how important a player he has been to the club since he first broke into the side back in 2010.

The fact that so many managers at the club have picked Forrest shows just how valuable he has been this season, and with the departure of Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton he is one of the few Celtic ‘invincibles’ left at the club. It is important that a link to such a great Hoops side is left at the club, and the likes of Forrest and Hoops captain Callum McGregor provide that.
