Before I start this article, I need to clear something up.
By law, in Scotland, it is now stated that the word “hun” is a sectarian slur.
It is against the law to utter the word.
So, let’s put things into context a bit here.
Rangers 1872 were christened the “huns” by the English media.
Yes, you read that right, the English media.
They were given the title, not for sectarian reasons, as so many believe, but in reference to Atila the hun.

Atila and the huns were a nomadic tribe who wrought destruction wherever they went.
At one point, they occupied a huge part of central and eastern Europe.
They were not known for soft rules of engagement when it came to battle.
The English media, during the mid-sixties after a Fairs cup game between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Rangers 1872, described the travelling Ibrox fans as “huns”.
This was because of the destruction wrought on Wolverhampton by the Rangers 1872 fans in the aftermath of the match.
They felt that hun was an apt description for them, and it stuck.
There were no sectarian connotations whatsoever involved in christening Rangers 1872 fans “huns”.
Nor did Celtic fans give them this name, we only adopted it after that game in Wolverhampton in the sixties.
So, to be clear, there were no sectarian origins in the title “hun”.
The Ibrox fans decided it was a sectarian slur.
However, who am I to argue with the word of law?
So therefore, I have to respect the judgement of the Glasgow judiciary.
Which brings me to the main thrust of this article.
Poor, sweet, tender soul Kyle Lafferty, and the sectarian abuse he was recently subjected to.
Celtic hating cesspit rag, The Sun, decided this needed to be highlighted.
Because of course, Kyle Lafferty is a lovely fella, who just happened to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time just over a year ago.

He was caught out badly, and God love him, he just let his guard down because he was well oiled after a few pints.
That little slip of the tongue pretty much cost him the remainder of his career.
Under normal circumstances, of course, he would never behave like that.
Yes, and I’m Andy Goram’s Aunt.
So, spare a thought for poor Kyle, when he found himself on the end of some vile sectarian abuse.
Except that he didn’t.
And if the pulitzer prize winning journalist who wrote the article about this wasn’t so eager to drag Celtic fans into the gutter, then he might realise that.
Below is the section in that article where the vile abuse towards Lafferty is described:
Lafferty, 36, is now plying his trade in the seventh tier of Scottish football, having signed for Johnstone Burgh in the West of Scotland League First Division last summer.
Video footage posted on social media over the weekend shows the moment Lafferty was asked to pose for a selfie with a Celtic fan, only for things to turn sour within seconds.
Lafferty smiles at the camera before the man shouts “F*** the Huns*”, prompting the footie ace to turn around and walk off.
So what exactly is wrong with Sun journalist David Fowler’s claim?
Well firstly, is Kyle Lafferty “the huns”?

No, he’s Kyle Lafferty.
Secondly, that jibe means “F*** the R*****”.
So, the Celtic fan in question was not directly insulting or abusing Kyle Lafferty in a sectarian way, he was basically insulting the team he used to play for.
He did not call him a “hun”.
Lafferty does not play for the Ibrox side, he plays for Johnstone Burgh in the seventh tier of Scottish football.
He used to play for the Ibrox side, and the Celtic fan was stating his dislike for the team he used to play for.
Technically, he did not directly abuse Kyle Lafferty.
Which is probably why you’ve heard nothing more about the incident.
Other than what David Fowler has reported, simply because he dislikes Celtic and wants to make people think that poor Kyle has been viciously attacked in a sectarian way.
Fowler then goes on to explain why the term “hun” is now considered a sectarian slur.
In summation, all he wanted to do was incriminate Celtic fans, and get Lafferty off the hook for his behaviour just over a year ago.
If something remotely serious arose from this encounter, Fowler would have reported the Celtic fan’s arrest and subsequent punishment after breaking the law in such a vile, and unprovoked attack.
Let’s call it out for what it is, a Celtic hating rag trying to tarnish the name of Celtic fans.
A desperate attempt to bring Celtic fans down to the level of their Ibrox counterparts.
Clearly, he failed miserably.
Poor Kyle though, my heart goes out to him.
Tender soul that he is.
That’s what I knew, about the Hun name & not Sectarian as it was Orange Bs that was Sectarian, Can’t say I agree with Scottish law,as can be seen with their laws that criminalized football fans, before it got tossed out & thank James Kelly MSP for this,
The law is an ass in Scotland it’s also a running joke. …fuck police Scotland fuck the Huns. …it is in no way sectarian and I’d argue all the way to supreme court that it is not sectarian at all ,all this law we meant to adhere to being made by judicial establishment that cost taxpayer 100 million n counting in botched prosecutions and a police force infested with said Huns
Let’s be honest……has anyone confirmed the person involved was a celtic fan ??
After all, it wasn’t a game versus celtic, so was the person directly quoting as a celtic supporter ?
Remember, it’s not only celtic fans who refer to the whitewalkers as “”huns””….a lot of other clubs fans refer to them as the same.
So has the SUN reporter jumped the gun and assumed this fella was a Tim.
Funnily though, the term hun is now sectarian, and if your caught saying it in reference to a gers man …commonly known as zombie,.or, orc…you would need to explain in a court.that you directly referred to their historical use.of the term being because they wrecked and caused havoc everywhere they went.
Whereas, the term “fenian” is sung home and away by the city wrecking huns, and nothing gets done.
Truely, Scottish police and courts are mystical things…hh
Let’s leave the ignorant press and Huns to lick their festering wounds !
I hear that Lafferty fancies himself as a photographer now …
my wife calls me hun as in hunky is this sectarian? Asking for a hun?
Kyle Lafferty is no shrinking violet he’s been involved in several sectarian and bigoted incidents in Scotland and Northern Ireland that’s been covered up by the msm. So do me a favour don’t portray this particularly nasty barsteward as someone to pity I was present at one incident and the other one a very good friend of mine witnessed and I’ve no reason to doubt his word as it’s in Lafferty’s wheelhouse as he did similar in the incident I saw for myself.
James,
Eric has already admitted to being a Fenian, Although it is hardly anything to be proud of. The Fenians if you know your history and all that achieved absolutely nothing apart from fighting against each other.
Fenians is Irish to be called a fenland is calling you a Irish gentleman.
