Celtic fans need to lay off Adam Idah, his price tag is not his fault, but his form? Yes, he needs to work on that

At some point or another, every striker goes through a barren period in his career, Adam Idah is no exception to the rule.
He is having a tough time of it currently, and he cannot seem to buy a goal at the moment.
His price tag is not helping his cause either.
Many of us were pretty shocked at the price Celtic ended up paying for Adam Idah.
But we have to understand that the price the club paid for him has nothing to do with him.
This is not his fault.
However, it is turning out to be a noose around his neck.
I guess it comes with the the territory.
When a club pays a high price for you, especially when you’re a striker, and you aren’t finding the back of the net, then the first thing people look at and call out, is your price tag.
Adam Idah cut a forlorn figure last night when he was subbed off against Dundee United in the 61st minute.
His performance up to that point had been relatively ineffective.
Added to that, he had missed a sitter early in the first half to put Celtic two up.
For any striker, when you can’t put away the easiest of chances, it chips away at your confidence.
You start to question yourself.
You wonder what the hell it’s going to take for you to ever score a goal again.
Adam Idah’s body language spoke volumes last night.
He went straight up the tunnel when he was substituted, his face etched with disappointment as another game seemed to pass him by.
Personally, I have sympathy for him and the situation he finds himself in.
It cannot be easy for him.
But there is a growing number of Celtic supporters out there who do not share the sympathy I have for him.
They base their current anger and irritation on one thing, Adam Idah’s price tag.
One Celtic fan on last night’s Daily Record hotline had this to say:
As for Adam Idah! He is easily one of the worst strikers I’ve seen in a Celtic jersey. A complete waste of money. Hopeless!
Harsh?
I would have to say so, yes.
While Idah might not have a goal to his name since November, he has still scored 8 goals in all competitions this season so far.
But what people are very quick to forget is what he contributed to our double winning season last season.
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that without Adam Idah last season, there’s a good chance we would not have won the League and Cup double.
He scored some very crucial goals in our march to the title.
And, as we all know, he scored the winning and only goal in the Scottish Cup final.
To now dismiss him as hopeless and a waste of money is harsh in the extreme.
Especially when the price we paid for him was down to Michael Nicholson dragging his feet during the club’s negotiations to buy him.
If we’d offered £6 million to begin with for him, instead of going in with a derogatory opening offer of £4.5 million, we might have got the player for a bit less than we paid.
But none of that is Adam Idah’s fault.
So, instead of using it as a stick to beat him with, maybe we should start getting behind the player, and showing him our support?
Is that not what we do as Celtic supporters?
It’s time to lay off him, he doesn’t deserve the kind of stick he’s getting.
Especially after his contribution to last season.
Some people have very short memories.
I firmly believe Adam Idah will come good again, and soon.
Then we’ll see what people who are knocking him now have to say.
Yes, he needs to work on his form, but I’ve no doubt the Celtic coaching team are working hard behind the scenes on that.
Once he gets one goal, the floodgates will open.
Let’s give the guy a chance.
Let’s get down to brass tacks here, he was 3rd choice at Norwich for a reason , the reason being he is sub standard and will never be a 20 a season striker, again the ineptitude of our recruitment team has blown up in our faces , got have got Miovski for half of what we squandered on him
He went up the tunnel to get something warmer to wear then returned, all our players should be backed
The big man’s form is certainly a concern at the moment but agree that we’ll have a clearer picture on where he’s at in a few months’ time. Among other things Adam needs to adopt a much meaner more compettitive attitude and begin to bully defenders in the way Giakomakis used to. He has the physique to do that so its time for a change of attitude.
Overpriced lack of movement lazy not willing to work as he proved last night an in v Zagreb when he should have got in front of defender instead of waiting for ball to come to him

Eh, where did I mention Dundee United? I mentioned their manager, who was in the Dens Park stands last night, or did you miss that?
Eric I agree the big man will come good in the end and as you so rightly say he won us the double last year with some vital goals and at vital times as well. I’m more worried about Hatate he’s been dug meat all season and looks as if he doesn’t want to be at Celtic anymore. The only way he’ll get a move though is to find some form again, he’s a good player but for me doesn’t look interested, I hope both guys find a bit of form soon because we’re looking very vulnerable in some games just now HH
So blame the club for biding £4.5 m for a player worth about £4.5 m ?
BR insisted he was signed it’s Down to him , Like Trusty £6.5 m , Engles £11m Bernardo £4m all signed because BR said so .
Only people to blame for all these players under performing are the players. Idah the exception he was always as limited, look at his stats for Norwich , and a big risk at £6 m let alone £9.5 m makes desserts look like a snip
Kyogo not so prolific now either, is Rodgers system not suiting strikers?
It’s terrible he came here, particularly it’s the amount. If only there wasn’t doubt he can score. Cummings and Kenny should replace Kyogo Furuhashi instead if Idah can never find a way through.
