Simon Jordan’s pointless opinion about the Celtic fans’ opinion on the royal family is exactly that, pointless. No matter what he says, nothing will change

Celtic fans do not agree with the monarchy.
They never have, and they never will.
It’s just one of those things in life.
The sun will rise, and the sun will set, it will never change, no matter what.
Unless the earth falls off it’s axis.
And there’s about as much chance of that happening as Celtic fans suddenly agreeing with the monarchy.
So, when Simon Jordan decided to have a go at Celtic fans for their chants at Villa Park last night, it was a waste of time.
I could go on all evening about why people dislike the monarchy in Britain, but I don’t have the time or the inclination.
Celtic fans have their reasons, the same as Liverpool fans have theirs.
Both fanbases have their reasons, and it’s their right to have those reasons.
Just as it’s Jordan’s right to disagree with our view.
Everybody has the right to see certain things as they wish to see them.
The Record decided to sensationalise it, and make out that Jordan “ripped into Celtic fans”.
But he didn’t actually rip into them at all.
He gave his opinion.
Here’s what Jordan had to say:
It’s freedom of speech, isn’t it? I think they are an irrelevance, but they are entitled to their opinion. If you want to sing about the death of a monarch then there is something wrong with you, but Prince William is privy to other people’s opinions on him – is it treason?
Of course it’s not. Is it disrespectful? Yeah. Are the things they say disrespectful, yeah, but it’s their view. I think it’s distasteful to say those sorts of things. You can be anti-royal, you can not believe in the monarchy – and lot’s of people do. I’m moderately middle of the road about it.
I understand the value of the monarchy, but constitutionally it has very little merit now. That has been the case for hundreds of years.
But I don’t sit there and listen to the Celtic fans and think you have anything to say that is of any relevance. You can disagree with something fundamentally without having to be disrespectful, and to talk about the death of a monarch and the challenges of that family in the way they do – I think it indicates a certain mindset.
He says he thinks it indicates a certain mindset?
The fact is he has very little idea as to what it is that drives that mindset.
If he decided to look at the history of Celtic fans and where they came from, then maybe he’d better understand the reasons behind their dislike for the royal family.
And if Jordan thinks our club’s fans are an irrelevance, why say anything at all about them?
Celtic fans are entitled to their opinion, just as he is to his.
But one thing you can be sure of, regardless of what he says, this isn’t going to change.
No matter how much the likes of the Record tries to sensationalise it.
It’s clear they aiming towards the majority of their readership with this article.
And we know who that majority is.
All it serves to do is take the focus off what was a fantastic game of football last night.
That is what should be talked about.
Why didn’t Jordan go to town on the chants at Old Trafford from the Ibrox fans last week?
Many of which were highly offensive.
How many people at Old Trafford were offended by those chants?
Because there are plenty of Mancunians who are Catholics.
But that doesn’t count, of course.
Only chants like last night’s do.
Enough said.
And who exactly is Simon Jordan
Villa fans also showed their distasteful anti-Catholic sectarian feelings with a banner on a motorway bridge leading down to Brum. How does he feel about that? I bet City fans don’t behave like that.
Simon Jordan is a smug prick that’s my opinion.
I would think that was huns who happen to live in the Midlands… Does your average villa fan really give a fcuk about the culture of a fitba team from the pub league north of their border? I don’t think
Although the ‘Powers that be’ are reluctant to admit it there is only minority support for the Monarchy in the UK.
Two World Wars and the spread of post war education for Working Class kids in schools, colleges and Universities put paid to that. (The same effect has been openly demonstrable in the decline of organised Christian Religion throughout the UK).
They are an abhorrent anachronism that should have no place in our Democratic Institutions. Their very presence in a so called Constitutional Democracy that doesn’t even have a..err written Constitution is a disgrace and patronising. A billionaire family annually gifted countless millions from tax payments made by millions of the lowest paid workers in the UK while the Royals own personal Income, they don’t earn it, is either tax free or has so many exclusions and exemptions it’s barely worth collecting. Their continued existence is a benefit of Brexit Britain, we all saw how the other remaining Royal Households in Europe were treated, not with deference but with equality before the Law. They were treated as just any other citizen, note: not Subject, would be treated and to be fair most complied. They worked and paid their taxes and cast their votes. Just too modern a concept for the exceptional English who were not comfortable with their position as just another member of the EU. Without Brexit it wouldn’t have been long before a challenge would have been placed in the European Courts as to the validity of an unelected Head of State having a Constitutional Role in British Democracy.
It’s on it’s last legs, won’t last another generation or sooner.
Maybe Jordan should have watched the sevco game tonight and made a comment regarding the vile anti catholic songs on display again for all to see .
Wait to see his response with baited breath, the scumco should be hammered by UEFA for this blatant bigoted racism, yet bawbag wants to talk about an out of date royal family that openly bans a catholic forever to sit on the throne, whit a fkn pathetic cnt .
Fans will always sing songs to annoy each other it’s called banter
Religious bigotry is not banter, if the lawmakers in this country had any spine it would be addressed as it is, a hate crime .
No other religion would be whitewashed over or be addressed as banter.
Excellent comment, it is just simply a Hate Crime and should be dealt with as such.
My personal opinion is to abolish the Monarchy.
When Chucky was crowned, he confirmed he was protestant in order o be King.
The only way to stop the bigotry is from the top.
Until people are treated the same, shown respect and return that respect, then the world will always have problems.
As far as this country goes, what is the benefit of a Monarchy.
People will start saying they bring tourism, Yes to London, so what is the benefit for the country.
Let everyone work for a living, we don’t need freeloaders.
Those undesirable work shy groups should not be picking up easy money.
For fear of drifting into emotive territory, I won’t say too much. But there is plenty of space and time out with football grounds to make a political statement, organise it and attend in the same numbers. I think we all know which way the media will portray it when it is done within the confines of a football event. It does our Club no good whatsoever, no matter how correct any statement may be, when raised within a football ground. If some people care so strongly about an issue, take to the streets and raise your opinion and public awareness there, be brave enough to do so. Football grounds are for supporting your club.

He represents a constitutional monarchy, one of the most stable forms of Government. Change this to a constitutional republic and you’ll get a basket case like Trump!
