The Celtic board seriously dislikes long, lingering shots of the directors’ box during TV coverage? Well, they’d better get used to it!

This morning in the Record, Hugh Keevins is talking about all things Celtic board.

And for once, Keevins seems to be on the money.

Then again, a crisis at Celtic is manna from heaven for the likes of Keevins and the rest of his media buddies.

To be fair, no matter how poor a journalist you are, you cannot miss the mark in relation to what’s going on at Celtic at the moment.

So, like a stopped clock being right twice daily, Keevins is getting it right this morning.

That’s not me giving him credit.

That’s me just stating the obvious here.

But I have to admit, there is one particular part in this article relating to the Celtic board that amused me quite a bit.

Here’s what Keevins had to say about a particular ‘ serious dislike’ the board has:

I’m told the board seriously dislike long, lingering camera shots of the directors’ box during TV coverage of matches.

But the cameras will again be trained on the board at Firhill on Sunday at the start of a demanding sequence of games squeezed into the space of a week.

I’d suggest they get used to it.

Because this is what’s going to happen at every game, home and away, from here on out.

And as the protests become more organised and more intense, so too, is the scrutiny of the board from the television cameras at every game.

I find it laughable that these guys feel they’re not going to be exposed to scrutiny as a result of what’s going on.

I mean, what did they expect?

They’ve put themselves in the spotlight.

Nobody did this but them.

This isn’t down to the Celtic fans, they’ve ignored us and our concerns for decades, now they’re going to pay the price.

This is the price of silence.

Yesterday, as you’re all well aware by now, was the official launch of the Celtic Fans Collective, a movement I’m extremely proud to be a member of.

For any of you who aren’t familiar with this movement, below is it’s mission statement:

For those in the media who think that all of this is just a storm in a tea cup, I’d suggest they think again.

We aren’t going away.

In fact, the Celtic Fans Collective, due to the fact it is extremely well organised, is going to just grow in strength throughout the course of this season and beyond.

The collective comprises a group where all differences are set aside and the fans come together to work in the common goal of renewing our club.

And it is clear that renewal is required, now, more than ever.

The board has a habit of ignoring things, and hoping they’ll just go away.

In fact, they probably believe that this is eventually going to die out.

They should ignore this at their peril.

After seeing Peter Lawwell’s Chairman’s Statement on the club’s annual result, one thing became clear to me and many others.

The board believes that they can just brazen this out.

They have proven, in both the statement released a fortnight ago, and this statement on the annual results, that under their control, absolutely nothing is going to change at Celtic.

Their mantra is very much, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

They believe that their way of operating is the one and only way that Celtic should operate.

And therein lies the problem.

Operating the club the same way for 20 years proves that there is nobody capable of any kind of change, or forward thinking for that matter at Celtic.

There will be another protest today at Firhill.

This one will be the next step, and organisation will have improved since the first one at Rugby Park.

Organisation will continue to improve with each passing week.

And each week, the cameras in the stadium will seek out the board because the media will want to see their reaction to our protests.

In reality, this board has never really been seriously scrutinised, but that’s all about to change.

And the irony in all of this is that they brought it on themselves.

This is entirely their own doing.

They are going to find out just how well organised the Celtic Fans Collective is.

All of this could have been avoided if they had opened the lines of communication when the seven original questions were submitted to them in the open letter of September 3rd.

It could have been avoided if even a modicum of contrition had been shown after the transfer window failures, and the failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Yet, we are still waiting for answers and an apology.

It’s quite clear that we aren’t going to get either of those things.

Instead we’ll get pathetic statements like we did on September 6th, and again in the annual results.

These men are not going to change, so it’s up to us to force change.

And that is exactly what the Celtic Fans Collective was set up to do.

This is only the beginning.
