Celtic are about to face the biggest game of the season, and the media is running with a “Yob nailed by police over chilling threats to Peter Lawwell” story

On the morning of the day of Celtic’s most important game of the season, the media – well namely The Sun – has decided to run with a story about a yob, thug, nut, whatever you want to call him, being nailed by police for threats to former chairman, Peter Lawwell.

The ironic thing about this particular story is that it isn’t actually new.

It is a regurgitation of the stories released in conjunction with Peter Lawwell’s retirement at the back end of last year.

Where we were told about threatening comments on X from somebody purporting to be a Celtic supporter.

Because lets be honest here, nobody who behaves like that is a real Celtic supporter.

Are they?

Lets also be honest and admit that X is a cesspit.

It is a platform filled with this kind of hate infused behaviour.

If you want to go somewhere to find somebody saying something bad about someone you don’t like, then X is the place for that.

Its like shooting fish in a barrel really.

I’m surprised the whole of free speaking America hasn’t been arrested for the things they put on X about Donald Trump.

But it would appear even he is thick skinned enough to allow it go over his head.

Or through it, considering its an empty vessel in reality.

The supposed Celtic “yob” in question today?

Well, he hasn’t been “nailed” in so much as he’s been warned by the police for his behaviour.

“Nailed” is designed to create the image he’s been severely punished for his actions.

Whether he has, or he hasn’t is irrelivant.

Nobody really cares because this is old news.

Its easy to identify that its old news because Peter Lawwell’s farewell to the Celtic fans who paid his bloated salary is repeated once again.

As if we hadn’t seen it enough already.

This is nothing but a ploy by the Sun to put out a negative story about Celtic on the day of the most important game of our season.

It is designed purely to annoy Celtic fans.

Celtic fans who are sick and tired of the Celtic board, and their continuous cries of poor me just because they’ve been subjected to scrutiny.

The Sun is fully aware that Peter Lawwell is a divisive figure.

Like a red rag to a bull when it comes to most Celtic fans.

So its clear why they picked today of all days to run with this story.

It is designed to detract from something that is a hell of a lot more important.

As far as Celtic fans are concerned Celtic, Peter Lawwell is consigned to the history books.

Bringing him up on a day like today, especially when he played a huge part in the state the club is in at the moment, is clearly only designed to antagonise.

It is Peter Lawwell’s archaic transfer policies that have us on the 25th of January without having spent a single penny in the transfer window.

This is a window in which we should be preparing recruiting for the summer.

Instead, we are scrambling about trying to save the current season.

With no vision whatsoever for the future.

That’s the problem with this Celtic board, they are incapable of strategic planning.

Everything is, and always has been, about wallpapering over the cracks.

The media knows we have to win today to keep our title hopes alive.

They will do anything to detract from that.

This story is nothing but a rehash of everything we’ve read about Peter Lawwell already.

No doubt Lawwell himself will be watching the game today from the comfort of his plush home.

He does, after all, bleed for Celtic.

Doesn’t he?

One wonders if he’ll be watching oblivious to the fact we’re in this mess in no small part because of him.

The media are just waiting to open the floodgates when it comes to the Ibrox side.

They’re dying to start screaming in from the roof tops that they’re champions in waiting.

Nothing less than a win will do today for Celtic.

A loss or a draw will open the door for them.

And that’s the last thing we need.

But I have no doubt Martin O’Neill and his charges will come good in this one.

Its long overdue.

After Thursday night’s heroics, anything is possible.

We just need to believe….
