Could Martin O’Neill Be on the Verge of Walking Away from Celtic?
Rumours are circulating that Martin O’Neill may have resigned as Celtic manager. At this stage, they are exactly that—rumours. There has been no official confirmation from the club, and supporters should treat the speculation with caution.
However, if those rumours were ever to become reality, I honestly wouldn’t blame him for walking away.
A MANAGER CAN ONLY TAKE SO MUCH
Managing Celtic brings huge pressure. Expectations are sky high every season. Most managers accept that challenge.
What becomes much harder to accept is repeatedly asking for reinforcements while watching transfer negotiations drag on week after week.
Supporters have seen the same pattern unfold too many times. Celtic identify targets early, negotiations become drawn out, and valuable time slips away. The squad enters important fixtures without the additions many believe were needed weeks earlier.
If that is frustrating for supporters, imagine how it feels for the manager.
THE BOARD MUST SHARE THE RESPONSIBILITY

Martin will be respected if he walks away from this transfer shambles, but he’ll lose the respect of fans if he stays and tries to excuse it, especially if he refers to Dermot Desmond again as “the owner”. Desmond is just the head chancer on a Board of chancers. How in earth this man made any money in business is beyond me. He doesn’t recruit the right staff and he doesn’t want to speculate to accumulate. He is potentially on the verge of losing another £40 million in CL money through under-investment in the playing squad. That’s not business, it’s insanity.
