Will the Celtic Supporters React to the Betrayal of Martin O’Neill Tomorrow?
Martin O'Neill has earned far greater backing than the Celtic board have shown him during a pivotal transfer window.

The betrayal of Martin O’Neill should concern every Celtic supporter.
That is how I see the current situation.
This is a manager who has given everything to Celtic. He has carried the pressure, defended the club in public and accepted responsibility whenever results have disappointed. Throughout it all, he has asked for one simple thing – proper backing to make Celtic stronger.
He has not received it.
Instead, another transfer window has become dominated by drawn-out negotiations, slow-moving deals and an approach that appears more focused on saving money than building the strongest possible squad. Celtic are one of the richest clubs in Scotland. They have the resources to act decisively. Yet the same frustrations continue to surface.
A Manager Left Waiting
Martin O’Neill deserves better than constantly waiting for reinforcements.
Every manager needs quality players through the door before competitive football begins. That allows time for players to settle, understand the system and build relationships on the pitch.
Instead, O’Neill has once again been left answering questions that should really be directed towards those making the decisions in the boardroom.
Managers always carry the blame when results fall short. Boards rarely do.
Backing Must Mean More Than Words
Supporters have heard plenty about ambition over the years.
Real ambition is shown through action.
If the club truly believes Martin O’Neill is the right man to lead Celtic forward, then it should provide him with every possible opportunity to succeed. Delaying deals or attempting to negotiate every last pound off transfer fees risks weakening the team at the very moment it should be growing stronger.
That is not the platform a manager deserves.
Trust Is Beginning To Erode
For me, this goes beyond transfers.
It is about trust.
Many supporters now question whether the board truly matches the ambition of the fans and the manager. Every slow transfer window chips away at that confidence.
Martin O’Neill has earned respect through his commitment to Celtic. He has stood in front of the cameras after every result and represented the club with professionalism and dignity.
Now it is time for the board to show the same commitment to him.
I believe Martin O’Neill has been badly let down this summer. If Celtic fail to reach their objectives because the squad has not been strengthened enough, responsibility should not fall solely on the manager.
Those in the boardroom must also answer difficult questions.

If Martin isn’t backed, imo he should resign.
Absolutely.
Martin is a club legend and should leave right now with his integrity intact.
The excuses from the Board are shambolic and the supporters are at breaking point.
What other business would make it so easy for their major competitor to be handed every advantage.
Every transfer window, we hear the same old excuses. The January window is difficult to recruit players etc. It now appears that due to Agents and EFL clubs looking to recruit players that the Summer window is also difficult. Once again, the Board are in a position where they are too concerned with trying to sell key assets and not giving the manager the best chance to navigate the CL qualifiers where our record is woeful.
Quite clearly the business model is outdated and not fit for purpose. Doing the same thing and expecting different results e.g. trying to perform our business on the last day of the season where prices are grossly inflated and where we are playing catch up against Rangers who do not appear to have any issues with agents and EFL clubs.
Martin deserves so much more support and my own feeling is that he like Brendan Rogers will opt to leave. Would you blame him?
Surely regime change is inevitable ?
The Board always have the perfect excuse for not backing managers: Rodgers was stalling on a new contract so they weren’t going to back him. In January O’Neill was only there to the summer so no point backing him, this summer O’Neill is only committed to a year so we can’t plan long term under those conditions.

Imo they will sell maeda, hatate,nygren, engles and then calmac will probably call time. The more money in the bank the more dd stake in the club is worth. ALL THE FANS should be outside the grounds protesting at these scumbags. Did is an egotistical prick, his son is much the same and the rest of the board are utterly utterly spineless and I have nothing but hatred towards them for the mess they’ve made of our club
Martin must know by now that he will not receive the backing of the Board to improve the team, so I think he really needs to call it quits for self respect’ sake. The fans will respect him for walking away from this shambles, but they will lose respect for him if he stays and continues to make excuses for the crooks upstairs. I hope to see Celtic Park empty tomorrow for this friendly with AC Milan, just as it was with Middlesbrough. The fans can only drive Desmond and this Board out by one means, and that is to stop buying tickets, merchendise, etc. and stop attending the games. A few weeks of an empty Parkhead and the lot of them will be gone.
If Martin O`Neill hasn`t the guts to sand up for not only himself but for the
fans and even the future of Celtic, then he deserves to be treated like the
doddering old comedian that he portrays so well.
The images of him standing on the touchline as if he had been caught short
and Brian Wilson sitting asleep in the stand with his `60s Harris Tweed jacket on would be comical if i wasn`t so depressing.
The Celtic directors` box looks like a skit from Spitting Image. What an
embarrassment they are to not only themselves but to their families and a
joy to the rest of Scottish football.
