Keith Jackson only recognises that Celtic are urgently in need of quality now?? Well done Keith!

Wildfires can’t break out in car parks.

Unless you set fire to a load of cars, generally wildfires break out in forests.

But for some reason, Keith Jackson seems to think they can.

So I’m not sure how Martin O’Neill was attempting to prevent a wildfire from breaking out in the Celtic Park car park, unless of course Keith means that the fanbase might gather in the carpark with torches and pitchforks.

Which he probably would have been better off saying in the first place, really.

Alright, that’s enough waffle from me.

I don’t know what it is lately with the pulitzer prize gang at the Record, but they all seem to be very late to the table when it comes to what’s happening at Celtic Park at the moment.

Jackson has released an early morning article in the Record today, painted as some sort of exclusive, behind a paywall, that tells us absolutely nothing we didn’t know already.

Jackson gives a full recap on our transfers to date.

Then he goes on to tell us that Joel van den Berg and Oliver Sørensen are inbound, and will arrive at Celtic in the coming days.

In between all of that, he pads the rest of the story out with a load of shite.

This is what passes as an exclusive these days at the Record.

I sometimes wonder why people actually have to pay for this stuff, when they can get it all for free on fan media.

At least people will get an honest opinion over there, instead of being pontificated to by Keith with tales of ‘carpark wildfires’ and ‘boardroom bunkers’.

I know it’s meant to sound intelligent, but it just doesn’t.

However, this particular point raised by Jackson, I can’t argue with:

But, if O’Neill is to stand a decent chance of repairing some of the damage done to Celtic’s international reputation in this season’s Europa League, while fighting the usual fires on the home front, he’s going to need to be given a great deal more in the coming days.

As he said himself after last week’s bone shuddering 5-1 car crash in Linz, “What these games show you is that we have a lot of work to do in that aspect.

“You can cover cracks at certain stages but, overall, these games are real tests and, unfortunately, we failed that test.

“We know that we are a million miles from the finished article. That’s absolutely true. I think we thought that anyway, regardless.”

A million miles away? And they knew that anyway?

That’s quite an astonishing admission for a club on the verge of attempting to navigate a safe passage through a tie of such monumental importance – and especially one with Celtic’s rippling financial muscle.

Bone shuddering car crashes aside, Jackson picks up on O’Neill’s admission that Celtic are a million miles away from being the finished article.

He also seems to revel in the fact that we are in this position with only a couple of days left to sort it out.

This is the problem with our club, you see?

We give twats like Jackson all the ammunition in the world to ridicule us and use sarcastic language in the articles he writes about us.

Oh, I know the board don’t give a shit what fan media writes or says.

They believe that we have zero impact on anything.

It’s also clear that they don’t give a shit what the media says either.

This is the Celtic board for you.

The entire world can make them look like the utter fools that they are, and they just carry on regardless.

Regardless of what the likes of Keith Jackson says, the credibility of this board has been shredded this summer.

They drag us deeper and deeper into the abyss with each passing day.

There is no end in sight to this misery at Celtic either.

It’s panic stations at the moment.

The board are scrimping and scraping to reach the amount of players required in before the window ‘slams shut’.

My belief is that we’ll get three or four maximum in before the window closes.

This board is not building a squad of players.

They never do that.

They build a portfolio of players.

And we all know what that portfolio is designed to achieve.

Get them in cheap, sell them for a profit.

Except the quality has begun to dry up of late because it’s very hard to pick up quality with a £3 million price tag these days.

Somebody might want to point that our to our world class board.

Somebody other than Keith Jackson, that is.

Because he tells us nothing we didn’t know already.
