This morning, the Daily Record has Hugh Keevins telling us he can no longer take Martin O’Neill seriously.
Let that sink in for a moment.
The man who nobody can take seriously can’t take the Celtic manager seriously.
You couldn’t make it up.
Here is how Keevins puts it:
I have already written that Martin has lost the moral authority to continue in his post and added, with the deepest regret, that I can no longer take him seriously.
“With the deepest regret.”
Of course.
Keevins has finally noticed that Celtic are in trouble, and now he wants a medal for noticing
We lost heavily in Lisbon.
The support are fed up.
Dermot Desmond doesn’t appear to care about the club the way we do.
Thanks, Hugh.
Without you, we’d never have known.
That is the whole column, and it is the kind of bleeding obvious that every supporter has been saying since the final whistle in Lisbon.
I’ll give him the board, but pinning it all on the manager is where the column falls apart
Now, fair is fair.
Keevins reminds us that in their last three European ties Celtic have lost by a three, a four and a five.
Nobody is disputing that.
He also says Dermot Desmond appears to have a financial, but not an emotional, investment in the club.
Which is exactly what we have been saying for years.
He even admits there is a poverty of choice when it comes to the players at the manager’s disposal.
So, let me get this straight.
The principal shareholder doesn’t care, the squad is threadbare, and the Lisbon Liabilities, as he calls them, were taken apart by Benfica.
And yet the man who has lost his moral authority is the one in the dugout?
Where is Michael Nicholson in all of this?
Silent Mike, as usual.
Keevins can write a thousand words on the board’s failings, but he still lands on the manager’s doorstep, and that tells you everything about where he thinks the blame should sit.
It reads like Keevins scanned the blogs all week with AI – Auld Intuition – and stitched every story we ran into one column
Honestly, have a look at it.
The £35 for the Celta Vigo game, with the money already lifted from the accounts of season ticket holders?
We covered that.
The Green Brigade and the Celtic Collective staying away over that unsigned club statement?
We covered that too.
The tennis balls at St Andrews, the board’s failure to read the room, the top tier closed on European nights like in the days of Ronny Deila?
All of it was on the fan sites long before it appeared in the Record.
Not one link back to any of us, mind.
Funny, that.
He wrote it on Saturday, and he got the Ibrox side badly wrong
Here is the best bit.
Keevins clearly filed this piece on Saturday, before a ball had been kicked at Dens Park.
And here is what he decided would happen:
Their problems will intensify if Hearts beat them this afternoon and put Martin’s side into third in the league.
Third?
For that to happen, the Ibrox side had to go and win at Dundee first.
In Keevins’ head, they were as good as there.
Well, they weren’t.
The Ibrox side dropped points last night.
So even if Celtic lose to Hearts today – and I’m not for one minute saying we will – we are still top of the table.
Not third.
Top.
So the central threat in his column was built on a result that never happened.
How can you take a man seriously who writes a doom-laden piece around a result he’s assumed rather than waited for?
It was a Celtic fan on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard who took his arrogance apart during the week
This isn’t new, either.
Keevins’ arrogance when it comes to the Ibrox side is there for all to see.
A Celtic fan called Dan had had enough of it on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard during the week.
Here is the particular clip:
"You’re saying Rangers are going to win the league when they’re not even in Europe" 🍀 Celtic fan Dan has had enough of Hugh Keevins’ criticism of Celtic and thinks his team can turn their poor form around. https://t.co/VwijN7c9WT

“They’re not even in Europe.”
Five words, and they sting.
And I’ll give him one thing – it’s a fair point that we’ve been poor in Europe.
Nobody is disputing that.
But the team he is convinced will win the league has been dropping points of its own, and that is the bit he never seems to mention.
The Ibrox side are the team he’s backing for the title, and they couldn’t even win last night
So let’s recap.
He has Celtic finished.
He has the Ibrox side crowned.
And the Ibrox side go to Dens Park and don’t win.
That makes him look even more stupid than usual, doesn’t it?
Because this isn’t the first time, is it?
Hugh has never been shy about telling Celtic what’s coming, has he?
And when the Ibrox side don’t read the script, it’s always somebody else who gets the blame.
He says he can’t take Martin O’Neill seriously.
Well, based on all of the above, how can anybody ever take him seriously?
Time for reflection on Keevins’ part.
Again.
Don’t hold your breath…

I’ve gave up listening to that Clyde programme. I hear fans articulating in great detail where the failings have been over the years like the running of our club from the board is all wrong and it’s as if their hearing it for the first time and the ex footballers seem to agree but then the following night it’s back to criticising the fans as entitled and blaming the players and managers. I say I gave up listening but yesterday for the first time this season I put on their podcast and heard keevins saying rangers were going to win the league in a canter in the first 5-10 minutes. I immediately turned it off . I rely on the podcasts online and online articles now for good summaries of Celtic rather than hacks like keevins
