Gary Mackay-Steven expects Malmo to be Celtic’s toughest test yet this season following Friday’s draw, which saw the sides paired in the play-off round for the Champions League group stages.
As reported by SkySports, Mackay-Steven, who is looking to make his first appearance in the Champions League said: “Obviously it’s a goal of mine this season. In fact now were a tie away it’s very exciting. And hopefully we can make that happen but that will only happen if we play the best we can.
“Having spoken to a few of the boys, we know they (Malmo) are a great team. They won the league last year and any team at this stage in the competition is going to be good.
“We didn’t know too much about Qarabag beforehand but they were a very strong side so I’m sure Malmo will be just as good if not stronger.
“There are no easy games at this stage but it’s not too far a journey away and we have a Swedish player in the team so he’ll give us the lowdown on them, I’m sure.
“You don’t want to travel too far for these types of games as it takes its toll, so it’s not too far away but we know it’s going to be very difficult.”
