Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong is happy to back in the fold for Celtic, having missed a large portion of the season with various injuries.
The 23-year-old suffered from a number of niggling injuries in August, before a back injury forced him to withdraw from the Scotland squad and miss key games for Celtic in the league.
He was on the bench for Celtic’s last two games, but is hoping he gets the nod to start against Motherwell this weekend and build some confidence again ahead of Thursday night when they make the trip to Molde.
Speaking to Celtic view and quoted by the official website, the midfielder said:
I’m really eager now to just get back involved.
It was nice to get half-an-hour against Hamilton and get back into it and to feel good.
That was the first game where I felt my normal self again so if I can continue that, there are a lot of games coming up and hopefully I can play my part at some point.
Armstrong is also taking confidence from his days against Motherwell when he lined out for the Arabs.
When I was at Dundee United we always played well against Motherwell for some reason.
They liked to pass the ball and it was always an open game so it tended to be high-scoring and we always seemed to come out on top.
It’s away from home and Fir Park seems to be one of these pitches where there’s a lot of space so I always enjoy playing there and hopefully I can play my part when go there.
But there are a lot of different types of games and the manager may want to call on different personnel.
Even if he can’t play a part this weekend, Armstrong will be hoping to make an impact in other games for Celtic, in an important period for the club domestically and in Europe.
We’re still pushing for the league and we have the League Cup match against Hearts coming up as well, which is a big game for us.
We’d like to retain that trophy and then there’s the Europa League and everyone wants to play in that too, so it’s an exciting month for us. I hope that I’m involved and a part of that.
