Following an international break that left Scottish football fans in despair, the country’s biggest game is back this weekend as Celtic face Rangers at home.
In the previous match, the Hoops’ rivals recorded a narrow victory as they looked to put pressure on the champions in the title race. Some missed opportunities and a few last-minute goals later have landed Celtic 10 points clear of their Glasgow rivals.
This weekend’s game, however, is set to be a tighter match as Neil Lennon’s side look to go 13 points clear and gain valuable ground towards their eighth title in a row.
Since Rangers returned to Scottish football’s top flight, Celtic have been the dominant team in Glasgow, winning 10 out of the last 12 in the previous two-and-a-half years.
But with a new backroom staff and Lennon at the wheel for this one, what will the result be this coming Sunday?
We asked five Celtic fans what their thoughts were going into the Derby:
Liam from Bearsden said:
“I thought Rangers could have got something, but after seeing their last two games, it seems their confidence might be low. I think it’ll be a close game, but I think we should win if Benkovic and Ntcham are back.”
Prediction: 1-0
Ciaran from Knightswood said:
“I think it’ll be a tough game. Celtic will have the home advantage, and if we win the midfield battle, we should have no issues. If we start the game with the intensity we’ve seen in previous years, we should be too much for Rangers.”
Prediction: 0-0
Sean From Duntocher said:
“I’m very confident in the team and Lennon, but I’m still nervous. It’s a big game for both teams, but if the team show up, I believe we will win.”
Prediction: 2-1
Marcus from Milngavie said:
“I think it’ll be a very close and attack-filled game. Overall, I think the home advantage will give Celtic the edge that they need to go on and win. I think the game will be full of goals and has the potential to be a very exciting match.”
Prediction: 3-2
Daniel from Blairdardie said:
“I think it is a really big game at the weekend; if Celtic win, it shows that this team have still got it after everything that’s happened over the past few weeks. A few big players really need to step up and show what they have got, and not underperform after the last Derby at Ibrox.”
