Celtic are no wind-up merchants, insists Bain

Celtic keeper Scott Bain insists that they are not the “wind-up merchants” that are causing rivals to see red, speaking to the Daily Record.

After beating Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup semi-final, the Hoops are moving within sight of the treble Treble as they sit 11 points clear in the Scottish Premiership.

But many have accused the title holders of winding opponents up, with skipper Scott Brown often being the first name mentioned.

Aberdeen saw both Dom Ball and Lewis Ferguson sent off, with manager Derek McInnes and his assistant Tony Doherty both being sent to the stands.

Bain spoke of the incidents saying:

The referee got everything spot on last weekend and we just played out own game again.

However, rivals seeing red is nothing new when facing Celtic.

Last month, Rangers saw Alfredo Morelos and Andy Halliday take an early bath, with Hearts and Kilmarnock also seeing players sent off in their clashes with the Hoops since Christmas.

But Bain insists that it is not of Celtic’s doing:

I don’t know about winding people up, but we are used to being in these situations and know how important it is to remain cool and calm.

The fact we can keep our discipline has stood us in good stead.

Obviously we cant do anything about the red card on Sunday, but we let ourselves down against Rangers with the way we handled playing against 10.

But we showed we learned from that and the boys were fantastic.

If there was a sense before that we could be got at, then there was none left by the end.

Celtic travel to face 5th placed Hibernian this Sunday who are coming off the back of a 2-1 win at Hearts in their last game.
