Pundit Chris Sutton has taken to social media to issue some transfer advice to Celtic following a superb individual display from Scotland international Ryan Christie.

The 26-year-old provided a trio of assists in Celtic’s assured and dominant 6-0 thrashing of Dundee F.C. in the Premiership yesterday.

However, Christie’s own position at Celtic – despite his confident individual efforts – is precarious.

He is within the final six months of his deal at Celtic Park and is officially free to sign on a free transfer with a non-Scottish club at present.

Christie is showing no signs of slowing down whilst still under contract with the Bhoys however and looks set to continue to hold down an important squad role within Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

Following Celtic taking to Twitter to post footage of Christie’s post-match interview, Sutton hit back with a statement of his own as he urged the Bhoys’ board to thrash out fresh terms with the Scotsman.

“Ryan Christie is playing well and seems to be enjoying his football under the new manager,” declared Sutton.

“He always gives his all. The club should be doing everything they possibly can to tie him down on a new deal.”

A host of suitors appear to be in the race for the Scotland star, primarily from the Premier League.

The Sunday People (8/8/21, page 57) said yesterday that Southampton, Burnley and Leicester are considering a £5 million move to sign the 20-cap Scotland star.

New Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira is said to be an admirer of Christie from his time at OGC Nice.

Will Christie be sold?

The Eagles have been previously linked as another potential Premier League suitor in reports last month from the Daily Record as a result.

From Christie’s perspective, his contractual status presents a now-or-never moment for a move to top-level English football, though he appears to be settled in Celtic colours at present.
