I often wonder what Hugh Keevins is at when he writes articles under the guise of someone who is trying to diffuse an already volatile situation.
From my perspective, it seems like he enflames and aggravates situations, rather than actually helping to cool them down.
While I do not care for the sentiments of Ibrox supporters, I believe that Keevins writes a lot of his drivel to piss off both sets of supporters.
Not that he pisses me off, I see him for the fool that he is, hence the reason I continually call him out, and I have dedicated a parody article to him.
For a long time, Keevins has consistently called out Celtic fans and their “paranoia” when it comes to Scottish referees.

He has laughed in the face of our calls for referees to declare their allegiances when it comes to who they support.
Yet today, it seems like all of a sudden he has grown a conscience.
But at the same time has to involve Celtic fans in “death threats” to Willie Collum.
In the first two paragraphs of his Sunday morning article in the Record, he insinuates that allegiances can be the difference between guilt or innocence:
The trial of a player from a high-profile English club, who is facing a serious charge, had to be delayed last week. Two potential jurors had to be excluded when they admitted to being season ticket holders at the home of the club’s greatest rivals.
Any risk of an accusation that the course of justice might be perverted because of football affiliations had to be avoided by the court. Think about it. A man’s guilt, or innocence, along with his liberty, became temporarily entangled in the historic rivalry between two football teams. That simply can’t be right.
So, what exactly is Keevins saying here?
Is he saying that Willie Collum’s allegiance is the reason the Ibrox club are after him, and want “retribution”?
Because that’s my reading of those opening paragraphs.
Before jumping to that conclusion, has Willie Collum openly admitted he’s a Celtic fan?

Or is Keevins saying the reason the Ibrox club are hunting him down is because he teaches in a Catholic school?
In other words, his allegiance is to the Pope?
Think about it. A man’s guilt, or innocence, along with his liberty, became temporarily entangled in the historic rivalry between two football teams. That simply can’t be right.
So, for Willie Collum, his alleged allegiances, and his religion, are becoming temporarily entangled in the historic rivalry between two football teams, is that it?
That simply can’t be right either, can it?
Because that’s pretty much what Keevins is trying to say, isn’t it?
But he doesn’t quite have the balls to actually state it in his column, does he?
Well, I’m saving him the bother, I’m telling you exactly what Keevins is saying.
Without actually saying it.
He’s doing this on the basis that the majority of his readership will not actually be intelligent enough to pick up on it.
Keevins can’t actually call for referees to declare their allegiances, because he’s scorned that very idea for an eternity.
For him to admit that now, would make him look like a fool.
So instead, he gives us a vague idea of what he’s thinking by telling us about the trial of a player at a high profile English club.
If you’re smart enough, you can see through it immediately.
Keevins goes on to give his opinion on the Ibrox side’s behaviour throughout the last week.
And while he feels he must highlight the maliciousness of their behaviour, it could not be done without a customary stab at the Celtic support.
Two sides of the same coin and all that:
This is the referee who was once the subject of malicious telephone calls, including a death threat, to his home after he had awarded a penalty to Rangers at Celtic Park. He has to be protected, wherever possible, from the risk of intimidation at a time when, as I say, football has come to exist in an atmosphere that is both unstable and unpredictable.
Where is the need to bring into his article an incident that happened over a decade ago?
Is there conclusive proof that a Celtic fan issued a death threat against Collum?
If so, was he brought to justice and imprisoned, just like the Ibrox fans who threatened the life of Neil Lennon?
Or, just like all of those Celtic fans who sent death threats to John Beaton after his fantastic game for the Ibrox side in December 2018, and appearance at the Crown Bar in Bellshill that same evening?

Scottish referees and death threats seem to go hand in hand, but rarely is anybody ever brought to justice over said death threats.
Which means that most of the time, these death threats are just specualtion.
Par for the course every time a Scottish referee makes a controversial decision.
Yet Keevins couldn’t resist the opportunity to involve Celtic fans in the Ibrox side’s recent insanity, could he?
Keevins rightly thinks that Willie Collum should be protected at all costs.
However, I’ll finish with this particular statement from the master of drivel, because it’s dripping in irony:
The day we have certain referees for certain clubs is the day we have to admit the game’s a bogey.
Hate to break it to you Hugh, we already do.
The Ibrox side just want to be in control of it now, because a decision went against them.
That’s the whole reason we find ourselves where we are right now.
But you’re already aware of that Hugh, aren’t you?
Your two opening paragraphs pretty much tell us that.
You just don’t have the balls to actually say it, do you?
And you never will either.
Why is a ref who works for rangers be permitted to referee any game that they are involved in or any game for that matter
Well written 👏
Hugh keevins another son of pinocchio
Keevins is a dinosaur who should have retired years ago. Nobody listens to him any more. The people that believe what he writes are as thick as him.
Same old garbage from a man who couldn’t report the truth if his life depended on it. If he says anything about one club he has to drag the other into it just in case anyone thinks he’s biased. Complete clown how he’s still in a job is beyond me. These days I prefer to read Kew Heevins courtesy of your own fair hand.
Willie Collum does not teach in a Catholic School. He did until a few years ago, teach at Cardinal Newman H.S. in Bellshill, but he left there some time back.
Kathleen Fitzgerald if you are referring to Nick Walsh then you are 100% wrong in your accusation that he is employed by Rangers.
Nick Walsh is a p.e. teacher employed by the local council at Bochlair Academy in Bearsden which is the school that Rangers send their youth signings to and not employed by Rangers.
Are the p.e. teachers at St Ninians in Kirkintilloch which is the school which Celtic’s youth signings attend Celtic coaches?
Of course not, they are p.e. teachers employed by the local council.
Are the pe teachers at St. In Ian’s referees in Scottish football?
Ninians
Would the referees be honest with their declaration of allegiance.
I’m not sure that they would if it prevented them from taking part in certain games. I could maybe change “taking part” to “ influencing”
Remember after a certain Dundee United game, when Celtic received a penalty then didn’t.
The outrage that followed by all & Sundries was ridiculous and referee’s even went out on strike.
Suddenly it’s the Establishment club complaining, without a pot to piss in as nomatter how much anyone tries it’s OFFSIDE
Yet
A week later and still arguments trying to justify this Complete Nonsense
YAWN YAWN YAWN
Hugh Keevens, like the many pundits within the Scottish media, will not bite the hand that feeds them.
