Keith Jackson just doesn’t get it, does he? UEFA FSR will prevent Cavenagh from giving the Ibrox side a substantial “transfer kitty” in the bid to catch Celtic

When the Ibrox side releases it’s next set of accounts, it isn’t going to make for pretty reading, and this is something Keith Jackson would want to pay attention to, but I’ll get to that soon.

Chances are they’re going to lose in excess of £20 million since the last loss of £17 million was reported.

So let’s just round it up to around £40 million lost in the space of two seasons.

Now, if that doesn’t ring alarm bells with UEFA, I don’t know what will.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, in the media seems to be getting that if and when the takeover happens, the new owners aren’t going to be able to just hand over millions to spend on new players.

That Graeme Souness £50 million pipe dream is going to remain exactly that, a pipe dream.

UEFA FSR just will not permit it to happen.

Yesterday, Keith Jackson was back in the Record, first decrying Dave King, and then reassuring everyone that Andrew Cavenagh has given assurances the new manager will be handed a “very substantial transfer kitty”.

I did a story on King’s bullshit spewing exercise on Talksport on Wednesday.

It has to be read to be believed.

Keith Jackson decided to give his take on it yesterday.

In which it’s abundantly clear he doesn’t like Dave King very much.

Yet he desperately tries to continue to sell the American Dream, which is fast fading into a nightmare.

It’s fading into a nightmare because it’s clear that by the time Andrew Cavenagh and his investors take control in the new takeover timeline of mid-June, it’s going to be far too late for them to achieve anything meaningful for the upcoming season.

Effectively, next season might as well be a write off.

If they don’t have a new manager and a new scouting team in place before the takeover, then who exactly is going to start spending this “very substantial transfer kitty”?

Who is going to source the players required to mount a serious challenge to Celtic in the space of one season?

Are they going to have a new boss in place in just over a month’s time?

If they are, then they must be conducting interviews already.

Surely?

Interviews for a job at a club that isn’t quite theirs yet.

The new manager will also have to assess the current squad, and decide who is and who isn’t good enough to be part of next season’s plans.

This takeover is starting to make King’s off licence putsch look like it was the best takeover job in the short history of the Ibrox club.

Not that you could get much worse than that.

For weeks now, we have discussed this takeover on the Trinity Tims podcast.

Not only have we done that, but we’ve predicted everything that’s going to happen on our blogs as well.

Ironically, everything we’ve discussed is happening, yet Keith Jackson and many others are ignoring this reality.

It’s not like we’re psychic or anything like that, we’re just realists.

We follow the game in Scotland very closely.

When you write about it almost every day, you develop an understanding for it.

Almost like a second sense, if you want to call it that.

The media works off fantastical theories.

We work off real theories.

It isn’t rocket science.

And in most cases, it’s really simple.

If UEFA FSR states you can’t spend fortunes on player transfers relative to your income and operating costs, well then, you can’t spend fortunes on player transfers.

It’s not hard to comprehend.

Yet everybody in the SMSM, with the exception of Scott Burns at the Record, chooses to ignore this reality.

Burns did a story the other day which was a true reflection of what will happen at Ibrox in conjunction with UEFA FSR.

Yet his colleague, Keith Jackson, who likes to see himself as one of the senior writers at that title, chose to ignore this reality completely.

Journalists must have the ability to be impartial.

If they want to write about their favourite team, like we the bloggers do, then declare your allegiances outright, and then nobody will criticise you for drooling and slathering over them.

Nobody will give you a hard time for fantasising about what you want for them.

Hell, I do it on a regular basis with regard to Celtic.

I fantasise about us having a more progressive board and mounting a serious challenge in Europe.

It’s unlikely at the moment, but there’s no harm in dreaming.

Jackson can’t hide the fact he fantasises about the Ibrox side spending tens of millions in the summer transfer window.

But that’s exactly what it is, a fantasy.

And by fantasising like he does, it shows he has a complete inability to be impartial.

It shows that he wants, what he yearns for, when it comes to his favourite team.

But it isn’t going to happen.

And he’d be taken much more seriously as a journalist if he painted a realistic picture of what was going to happen.

He would garner more respect as a journalist, and while Ibrox fans, and it seems he includes himself in that demography, cannot handle the truth, they would be far better equipped to handle what’s coming down the tracks if the likes of Jackson told them the truth.

Why is he afraid to do that?

More to the point, what fear does the rest of the SMSM have of telling the truth about Ibrox?

They’ve bigged this takeover up so much, and made it into something it’s not going to be, that expectation levels are through the roof.

Ibrox fans think we’re terrified of what’s coming down the tracks.

The reality couldn’t be further from the truth.

We know its going to be a case of, “well, we told you so”, when the reality eventually hits them over there.

And let’s face it, this wouldn’t be the first time that’s happened.

Hence the reason we can see this for what it is.

We’re not blinded by the desperation and want for that club to challenge ours.

Thus giving us the ability to look at things that go on over there forensically.

Something the SMSM has never, and will never do.

So, when Keith Jackson chooses to write about “very substantial transfer kitties”, he is choosing to ignore reality.

It cannot happen.

And when he fully realises that, he’ll also realise that this realisation hit him too late as austerity descends on Ibrox.

And in the end that he was just being utilised as a useful idiot in all of this.

Again.

Surely Dave King’s recent exercise in bullshit will awaken his senses?

His article yesterday gives you the impression that it jolted him half awake.

I guess we’ll just have to oblige him on the other half?

Like we always do.

Then he’ll just resort to name calling.

Like he always does.
