Just when you think our board can’t shock you anymore, they go and do something like this.
Being honest, I can’t quite believe its true.
Nicolas Kuhn is worth a helluva lot more than £16.4 million.
For guys who like to play hardball when it comes to transfers, I’m shocked they didn’t stand their ground on this one.
It should have been a case of £20 million and then we’ll talk.
If that was the case, I might have had some respect for the deal.
But if the Record is to be believed this evening, £16.4 million is the figure Celtic are willing to accept from Como.
Look, I take everything in the Record with a grain of salt, especially after the club’s stance on Kuhn was revealed the day before yesterday.

They said they weren’t willing to accept £15 million?
Well, I guess they WERE willing to accept £16.4 million then.
Isn’t that £1.4 million a huge difference?
Now, if this deal goes through, I’m sure there will be add ons as well, which will probably bring it up to £20 million over time.
But if he goes now, and the board don’t take their fingers out of their arses and provide us with an adequate replacement, not just Benjamin Nygren, then they’ll have serious questions to answer.
I expect every penny of this money to be handed directly to the manager.
Brendan Rodgers knows what’s needed, he said as much the other day in his interview.
They’ve got their big summer sale now, so its time to stop faffing around and start spending.
We need another striker, and we need another winger, if not two.
Get Balikwisha in, and get that badly needed striker in.
There’s no excuse now when it comes to Lennon Miller either.
Just over a quarter of what we receive for Kuhn should cover the majority of his transfer.

At the risk of repeating myself, I expect every penny of this money to be handed directly to the manager.
Did I say that already?
Yeah, I know!
Not deposited in the “Ghost Account”, where money disappears, never to be seen again.
As we said on the podcast on Monday evening, we may as well not have the finance we have, since we seem to have no intention of ever spending it.
The rainy day fund?
Well, it better not expand by £16.4 million quid and be denied to the manager.
I knew Kuhn was going to go.
But this?
This has to be a joke.
How’s it shocking for a guy we got relatively cheap who’s only played well for 6/7 months of his time here. Anyone expecting 20 + million is off his nut.
Second part season sat dummy out, great piece business, Scottish football playing in get grip.
Seriously……. We scoop a £13.5m profit fae an unhappy player wae a (probable) 20% sell on clause, disaster right enough (;-0)
HH
hear hear!!
Lucky to get that much given his recent form. Oh, and Miller doesn’t want to come here and spend his time as another of Brendan’s expensive bench warmers. Young pros today see football as a way to see the world in sunnier climes not slogging it out on the plastic at Kilmarnock and Livingston on a cold January night.
The scandal isn’t the price, that might be a little less than we could’ve got but it’s not bad, I think he wanted out. I suspect the tackles he received soured him on Scottish football, especially the ones that went unpunished (Jefte). The real scandal is the money won’t be spent on the team, the CL money, Kuhn money and Frimpong money yet we spend £1.5m on Nygren and we’re chasing a £300k defender. There’s no point chasing bigger fees for guys like Kuhn when the money is simply stockpiled anyway.
Excellent price. Would not expect any more. Hopefully we will invest
Good bit of business boys a player but doesn’t turn up that often. Let’s see some quality come through the door Celtic ☘️
Kuhns career is the future. 1.5 or 2 years then take incredible profit and start again. Not the model we want, but it’s reality
Most agree a good deal for a guy who played half a season, good player. Never quite bought into Celtic.
Fabrizio says all agreed €19m … not the end of the world if moneys put to use
Is that Don Quinn of Tralee CSC??
I think it’s a great deal, his body language told a story, never kicked a ball after new year, take the money & move on HH
The problem isn’t Kuhn being sold , the problem is will it stop at Kuhn or could other star players be off if so then we know the answer as far as Brendan extending his contract , then the question will be are celtic being prepared for a spectacular sale of the actual club , I think we all have this underlying fear, we will soon find out the answer
18 months in the hoops. 6 good months. I’ll take the £16.5m thanks. An unhappy player never delivers. Let’s move on and hope BR gets the funds he needs. Hail Hail…
It’s not just the kuhn money that Brendan had to spend this should be extra he should have £50m to spend
Sure is Eric.. won’t let me reply above for some reason
Honestly mate get a grip , anyone who watched Kuhn second half of the season would’ve taken a lot less than £16m for a player who cost £3m . Great player some of the time but we need players who step up All season .
I think this is a quality bit of business. Yes £20 million would’ve have been more suffice but to get £17 million for a player who had a good 6/7 months is a brilliant bit of business. Every foreign Celtic player has a desire to move away after a good couple of seasons, so it’s best selling at their peak and getting good money. Now Celtic have to go get Balikwisha and Orjasaeter with the money they’ve got for Kuhn. You buy these two and hopefully that sorts out the wing positions 🍀
I’d bite they’re hand off for that took 6 months to play well then only played well about 6 month the second half of season he was rotten n never turned up v the scum.
Good money for flashy player one day and no whet to be seen next
I agree second half of last season was disappointing but we don’t have a replacement. We have an aging Forrest and Yang who is a bit hit and miss. It’s only a good deal if we bring in a replacement who is at least as good as Kuhn. I’m worried about the lack of incoming players.
Eric
I can’t remember if it was you or one of you colleagues but round about the time Kuhn’s form dipped at the turn of the year he had reached the same number of games he had ever played in a full season. He’s a young guy and would definitely improve and strengthen physically so I do think he is worth more in today’s transfer climate but if he wants to go then we’ve seen the danger of holding onto talent who don’t want to be here. HH
Need to stop whinging, you are starting to sound like a sevconian
Sorry have to disagree. The guy spat his dummy out after C/L . Can you name another first team Celtic player that has been subbed off twice at half time during crucial games in the space of four and a half months? Quite rightly got hooked off as was a waste of jersey.
Absolute nonsense mate, that’s tremendous money for Kuhn! The guy has played about 6 months good football in his entire career
Got to disagree with you on this Eric .16.4 for a guy who’s face has been tripping g him since Xmas is OK.5 times what we paid.As for it being g reinvested, has no one been paying g attention to these number crunchers upstairs?
Nonsense article, why keep an unhappy player whose value will only go downwards if he continues the form from the back end of last season? Massive profit which can be put back into the team, your business sense seems to be off the mark. I think like Ange used to “don’t want to wear the jersey? Bye Bye”
What a clueless fucking wankstain you are haha I would love to see inside Celtic Park as I would absolutely rip you to shreds.
Idiots who write so much fucking negativity about Celtic.
You delete my post because you know I am write but your inferiority cannot handle the truth.
Fucking HUN that is what you are 🙂
Have I deleted it TriColoor? I’ve left your comment there for everyone to see. Firstly, learn to spell. You are not “right” because I haven’t deleted your post. You are very much entitled to your opinion, which is why your comment is here. But what I won’t tolerate is you threatening me. I’m voicing my opinion, just as you are, and I’m entitled to mine, just as you are. It is not a crime to say that I believe that the club could have got more money for NIcolas Kuhn, nor does it warrant you saying that you’ll rip me to shreds if you see me inside Celtic Park. And one thing I can guarantee you of, I’m the furthest thing from a hun. First and final warning, come on here again threatening me, and you’ll be blocked.
terrible language, you should be ashamed no
need for that
