As I watched the shocking events which unfolded in Minnesota in the US yesterday, and the subsequent blind defence of those events by the Trump administration, a thought suddenly occurred to me.
People in power today, no matter where they are, always act the same.
They will not accept accountability for anything that goes wrong on their watch.
What happened in Minnesota yesterday is indefensible.
To any sane person, it was the act of cold blooded murder.
Yet the Trump administration doubled down and labeled the victim of this crime a terrorist agitator.
A 37 year old American mother of three kids, a terrorist agitator?
And the masked man who shot her, a hero??
I mean, what in God’s name is going on in the world today?
It becomes harder and harder to comprehend with each passing day.
It seems as if nothing is off limits now.
Certain people can do what they want with total impunity.
I don’t need to get into the aggressive behaviour of the United States and the Trump administration today, it’s there for all the world to see.
I’m not normally interested in discussing politics on this blog, but I felt compelled to discuss yesterday’s events as a normal, decent human being.
I’m heartily sick of the way people in power act in today’s world.
Or more to the point, abuse their power.
And yesterday really brought that home to me.
It just seems to be becoming more and more prevalent across the globe on a daily basis.
But as I watched the Trump administration obfuscate, and without putting too fine a point on it, bullshit their way through the defence of events on Minnesota yesterday, I realised the exact same thing is going on at Celtic.
Its always someone else’s fault.
Never is it the fault of the people in charge.
The people in power.
Nobody accepts responsibility for anything that goes wrong.
Yesterday, in Minnesota, it was the 37 year old mother of three’s own fault she got shot in the head.
And yes, I know the loss of a life in no way compares to the chaos at our football club, but the attitude of the people in charge in the US and at our club is painfully similar.
There is no longer any accountability in the world of today.
People in power, no matter where it is, can just do and say as they please.
With no repercussions.
Until they push it too far, that is.
And that’s the problem, people in every walk of life today are getting pushed too far.
Growing up as a supporter of Celtic, supporting the club was a form of escapism.
Every matchday was a break from reality, and a source of enjoyment.
I don’t know about you, but up until recently, every ounce of enjoyment has been taken out of enjoying Celtic for me.
I feel like my club is now a mirror for the world we live in today.
A reflection of what society as a whole is becoming with each passing today.
Where the masses are subjugated and controlled by the few in power.
Tens of thousands of Celtic fans have felt almost powerless over the last few months as we’ve watched our club’s descent into utter chaos.
Much like the average citizen in the US who has watched their country’s descent into chaos under the Trump administration.
The similarities in so many organisations globally are painful.
Yet nobody is ever held to account.
Nobody has the humility and decency to hold their hand up and say, “Okay, we fucked up, we accept it, its our fault, nobody else’s.”
At the risk of repeating myself, its always someone else’s fault.
Our club is led by utter incompetents, and it really does seem that there’s no limit to what they can get wrong, yet they still escape accountability.
They came within a hair’s breadth of a huge boycott tomorrow, with the re-appointment of Martin O’Neill the only thing saving their asses.
And the boycott was cancelled out of respect for the man in the dugout, not out of any respect for their decision making, that’s for sure.
There is not one single ounce of contrition from the Celtic board for the Wilfried Nancy debacle.
Just like there isn’t an ounce of contrition in Washington DC for the events in Minnesota yesterday.
This shitty attitude of we’re in control, thus, we can control the narrative is really wearing thin across the globe.
Everybody is being pushed, everything is just being stretched to the limit.
The cost of living crisis gets worse and worse.
In the midst of a crisis the likes of which hasn’t been seen since 1994 at Celtic, our board felt it was perfectly acceptable to charge in excess of £200 for an Adidas hoodie.
A hoodie, which was probably produced for a fiver in a sweatshop in Malaysia by a 9 year old kid.
People in power are completely detached from the kind of life that normal working class people lead.
These kinds of facts are irrelevant to them.
Today is one of those days where I grow weary of the world I live in.
My one and only vice in life is Celtic, and all I want, more than anything else, is to be able to enjoy watching the team I love.
At this moment in time, I can’t do that.
I can’t do it because the people who run the club I love have driven me to detest them.
As I said in the article I wrote in the aftermath of the game against the Ibrox side, every time the camera panned to the directors box, I was screaming obscenities at the tv in my CSC.
Forty two years I’ve supported this club, and I’m reduced to shouting obscenities at fucking a television screen when I see the people who run our club?
I live in the hope that tomorrow is a new dawn for Celtic under Martin O’Neill.
That he secures the win that puts us back on the title challenge path.
I’ll finish with this, and I think I speak for all Celtic fans when I say this.
I am tired of people in the boardroom delivering empty words and empty promises.
I’m tired of their constant hollow calls for unity amongst the fanbase, and then when unity is suggested by the fanbase, they totally ignore it.
Once again, there was a call for unity this week by the Celtic Fans collective, and a call for the reinstatement of the Green Brigade in an open letter to Interim Chairman, Brian Wilson.
Wilson had the chance to show that he could be the peacemaker at Celtic.
The mediator who could bring all parties to the table and show willingness to end this stand off, once and for all.
He could have left an indelible positive mark with the fanbase, and he chose not to.
Wilson could have been remembered as the man who brought unity to Celtic during his interim role.
It appears he would rather be remembered in the same light as the rest of the current Celtic board.
For the board, it seems that ignorance is bliss.
They can’t ignore us forever.
That will be the rock they perish on.

To have Johnny Kenny at number 9 is total negligence and the fans will make their feelings known no matter who is in the dugout.
As for Wilson , he’s just another lapdog doing his masters bidding.
I honestly think we’re screwed this season.
I believe it is time for discussion between fans and Celtic FC PLC however the collective only offered Brian Wilson the same questions that were previously discussed. One question is about the strategy of a PLC and I have asked many times for this collective to name any PLC that makes such information public and no one has responded.
Further more this collective is led by people who wont make themselves known to the public, why not? What have they to hide IF they are the leaders of so many fans? Why is a steering group of more than 20 people required to stand up for a group of fans?
Change is needed at board level no doubt about it but it is also needed by so called supporters whose actions will have a detrimental effect on the long term business of Celtic.
A new CEO is required and a full and transparent audit of every department within the company is required and the only question that needs asked of each person is “is he /she the best person to fit the role they are in and do they deliver what is required of them”. Pretty straightforward and a way to improve Celtic from top to bottom and get us back on track and working towards success again. HH

That’s 2 of the subjects that can really get me blowing my top trumps politics and Celtics politics as well because of their spin on things .What happening with Celtic withholding the money has been going on for a long time and the fans are in revolt only abated a bit by the Martin Oneil factor . But he’s not a miracle worker . Where’s the signings needed . The striker position should have been in the door in the first few days of January . The 2 million winger they signed isn’t going to cut the fury . They’ve had one whole year to get a striker that can make the difference .
What a load of shite! I remember when Read Celtic actually had quality content and analysis. Now Eric tries to build division within the club with his talking points. Hate Trump or love him, maybe if people didn’t obsrtuct law enforcement, flee from them, and hit them with your automobile, we wouldn’t have these issues. He’s got every right to continue his ICE raids… that’s the platform he ran on and most of America voted for. I don’t find it difficult to follow the most basic of laws. Brian Wilson is a “Lord”an establishment guy to his bones.He was never going to be a go between.I believe they want the GB out sine die.Brighton banned a guy for 5 games for wearing a palestine football top,then upped his van to 5 years ffs.Vindictive as it gets.I think UK football clubs have been leant on to get any visual support for Palestine out of their stadia.And our board being the craven cowards that they are will comply.Dont expect the lads to be allowed back any time soon.
