Well, yesterday was statement o’clock from both Celtic and the Ibrox side.
The Ibrox side were once the sole subscribers to statement o’clock, well, not anymore.
It would appear that Penfold (aka Brian Wilson) seems to be a bit partial to it now.
For any of you younger readers who aren’t aware of who Penfold is, please see the below picture:

Growing up, I loved Dangermouse, who was voiced by the excellent David Jason from Only Fools and Horses.
Penfold was DM’s sidekick, and whenever I see Brian Wilson, I automatically think Penfold.
I digress.
Where was I?
Yes, Brian Wilson, and his penchant for statement o’clock.
Following Sunday’s match at Ibrox Stadium, the Club has taken time to review matchday events and today Celtic interim Chairman Brian Wilson addressed a number of issues, speaking to @CelticTV.

Wilson loves his cosy chats with Gerry McCulloch.
I think that’s because he has mastered the art of waffling for quite some time, while actually saying the square root of fuck all.
Gerry just asks the scripted questions, Penfold fills the gaps with aimless waffle.

The art of politics mastered to perfection.
Or is it?
I’ll leave you to decide.
Statement o’clock Celtic style says an awful lot, but generally leaves the reader or watcher scratching his/her head.
Maybe that’s why Brian Wilson loves the limelight?
He gets to practice his political sorcery unchecked to what he considers a gullible audience.
But unfortunately for Penfold, his audience aren’t stupid as he thinks they are.
The majority know exactly what he’s up to.
So who’s really the fool here?
Compare and contrast that to the Ibrox side, who know exactly who their target audience is, and how to perfectly placate that target audience.
Their statement yesterday was a masterful exercise in the art of deflection.

Similar to the Celtic statement, as parsed on Celtic TV via the Interim Chairman, the opening salvo of the statement tells us little or nothing.
It does not address the elephant in the room.
In other words, marvel superhero impressionists armed to the teeth, with the intent to maim and attack Celtic supporters.
Instead it says that anybody who is convicted of an offence will be sanctioned and banned.
Loosely translated that means, only offenders who were arrested will be punished.
Whereas those who invaded the pitch in their droves will face no sanctions.
Effectively, if the guy who kicked a Celtic fan in the head didn’t end up arrested and charged, then he will face no punishment from the club.
Now, I don’t know if he was or he wasn’t arrested, nobody knows.
But that seems to be the general gist of this statement.
As I said, the elephant in the room is not addressed at all.
In fact, it is completely ignored by the Ibrox hierarchy.
Instead, they used the elephant to shit directly on Celtic, and our fans.
By choosing to focus on the damage and graffiti in the Broomloan end.
This was always going to be the off ramp for them to accept any responsibility for Sunday.
And while I do NOT condone the graffiti in the Broomloan end in any way, shape, or form, I’m appalled at their blind ignorance of their own fan’s actions on the day.
There is no condemnation of the attack on one of the Celtic coaching team.
The least modicum of respect could be shown by acknowledging that much.
But no, they just couldn’t bring themselves to do it.
Nor will they ever acknowledge the consistent singing of sectarian and racist songs by their support, which by law, are deemed to be a hate crime.
I understand the need to point out that mocking the deaths of 66 football supporters is abhorrent.
But so too is commemorating the deaths of a million people via the famine song.
As is celebrating the killing of Catholic Irish immigrants by singing the Billy Boys.
Two wrongs don’t make a right, I know.
But if you want to condemn crass behaviour by our supporters, then at least have the decency to recognise that your own supporters do it too.
And on a much larger scale.
Yesterday overall, was a day of useless and uninformative statements by both clubs.
The Ibrox club wants a full and independent review?
Well, if that’s the case, they’d better be prepared to accept that a lot of the findings may not favour them.
If they’re willing to partake in such transparency, then credit is due to them.
But I somehow doubt that is their motivation.
They naively seem to believe that because our support entered the field of play first, anything after that makes them exempt from scrutiny.

Somehow, I don’t think this will be the case.
I guess we’ll find out in due course.
Either way, the reaction from both clubs is what we expected it to be.
Celtic would do nothing.
And the Ibrox side would deflect.
Scottish football is as predictable as it is insane.
And we all know the definition of insanity, don’t we?
Doing the same thing time and again, and expecting different results.
The modus operandi of Scottish football.
Key Takeaways
- Both Celtic and Ibrox issued statements that left fans confused and dissatisfied.
- Brian Wilson from Celtic seems to relish in vague and evasive communication, resembling political waffle.
- Ibrox’s statement ignored serious incidents involving their fans and was more about deflecting blame towards Celtic.
- Both clubs should acknowledge their supporters’ misconduct instead of pointing fingers, yet neither does.
- Scottish football remains predictable and fraught with repetitive issues, with little chance of change.

This is NOT the club we all grew up supporting. There is now no point in us providing our support. The club keep shitting on its fans, so why should they expect anything from us in the way of support? We need to take stock and consider a ban of our own.
If they do actually pray you can be sure that their prayers were answered.
And the devotional words would be: “please, please, may the thick, uneducated morons that are attached to Celtic like a scab give the seats a severe keilhauling and the ones with half a brain that can operate a spray-can remind us how many of our fans died in the Ibrox disaster”.
Why isn`t there at least one person among the Celtic support with the courage to take the spray cans from these horrible, cowardly b*st*rds and turn it on them before handing them to the nearest policeman?
The big problem isn’t the ragers statements or lack of ,the big problem is Desmond and his despicable cabal of corporate greedy board who only want our money without any responsibility morally or actual , this is what it’s all about , not football games or league or titles or cup games and progression. We all must now see how actually bad their contempt for the fans is . Stop giving them your money
I’m sure it’s just sheer coincidence that I called you Penfold on here the other day in your pisstake on the Huns article?
Sheer coincidence, I’m sure …
Now could you concentrate for a moment and please tell us why you refuse to spend half an hour of your time adding up the totals of the Operating Expenses in the Celtic account since Desmond seized control?
Or will you dodge this question forevermore, thus raising further suspicions amongst the support that these-called ‘Celtic bloggers’ are indeed Controlled Opposition, with either their strings being pulled from inside the club, like Paul Brennan, or they’re simply under orders, or too afraid, to really challenge Dermot Desmond where it matters most, on the scandalous disappearance of Two Thousand Million pounds from the club’s coffers since that man took control?

Why can we no longer access it on the page like before?
Why are you redirecting your readers to the despicable Musk’s site?
Are X paying you for every view you send there?
‘ Why isn`t there at least one person among the Celtic support with the courage to take the spray cans from these horrible, cowardly b*st*rds and turn it on them before handing them to the nearest policeman?’
Because they’ll be known as a lowlife grassing bastard amongst their peer group forever after, Frankie?
Call Humza Yousaf, he might help you see sense through this authority-loving madness of yours?
Do you seriously still trust the coppers on anything, especially after their inaction in the face of widespread violence last Sunday and their overall inaction since?
If you do then all I can say is you’re off your nut.
Fergus
Sadly, it is you who are off your nut and a coward. Who the f4ck worries (you obviously) what any nonentity thinks whether you are a grass or not? If they (you) are afraid to take a spray can off a cowardly halfwit (like you) that is celebrating the dead then hell mend them (you).
As for the police: I`ll bet if someone (like me) accosted
you in the street because of your rabid statements, you
would be on the horn to someone in uniform within
seconds and it wouldn`t be a bus conductor.
As for your obsession (pie-in-the-sky imagination)
regarding the trillions Dermot Desmond has syphoned from the Celtic accounts: there is a medication for that.
It is called rat-poison.
Sleep well and don`t let your teddy fall out the bed.
I`ll tell Yousef the next time I see him that you are asking for him and you`ll give him your vote.
